Error accessing SMB share from Windows 10

I created a SMB/CIFS share name 'MyShare', browsable and not public, with setting: workgroups, browsable and enabled and also enabled user home directories (even though I don't really understand the difference between the two 'enable').

The OMV dashboard shows SMB/CIFS as Enabled, Running

On my windoz10 File explorer, under Network I see OPENMEDIAVAULT, When I click on it to open, i get a windoz security window asking for my network credentials: user name & password. Nothing works: i've tried OMV web username&password, root and password, and my win10 user name and the 4 digit pin, and my ms account username and password.

What am I missing here and what username & pw should I use? I don't have a real password on this win 10 machine, just that silly PIN

Hmmm do I need to create a user on the OMV side?

The home directory isn't necessary unless you want to create folders accessible to each user. People don't usually use this.

My intention is to have two top-level directories (user1, user2) that serve as backup for the data files on user1 and user2 machines. I then want to mirror the disk to another disk in OMV. I may add more disks to my nas in the future and have one disk/user.

OK - add a user. Makes sense. TY. I had been looking at a older version (2021?) augmented by some YT vids (which are also dated). The new UG looks great and I like the scenaro Basic Data Drive and Create a Network Share. Just what I need. TYVM
