openmediavault shared folders no file system backend exists

  • Hi!

    7.7.9-1 (Sandworm)`

    Linux 6.12.25+rpt-rpi-2712

My openmediavault was running as usual, I could access all shares apart from that I was missing the recycle-bin on some shares.

Thought that maybe I had configured them to not use any recycle-bin.

Went to the dashboard, and was greeted with 'internal error 500' when trying to check storage/file systems and shared folders

no file system backend exists (zfs)

Thought there maybe was a bug in one part of the system so I installed the updates 60+

    No change! ;(

    Can anyone help?

  • Hi Chente!

No, it is not a new installation, had it for many years, only installed the suggested updates.

Now, it boots, I can access the Dashboard, but not storage/*

  • I don’t know how omv functions behind the GUI, but it seems to me that settings for file systems and shares, got removed or corrupted.

As it is now OMV is totally useless, as every share is gone.😢

I hope there is someone with knowledge, that can guide me getting my nas back to working order. 🤔

  • FYI

Found another thread in the forum, where a user updated OMV7 and the ZFS plugin was gone.

    Followed the instructions…

    Disabled backports

    Reinstalled openmediavault-zfs

Went to zfs/pools and selected to search for and recover all found pools (forced)

    Found and recovered my pool

Now everything’s working again, even the shared folders are accessible from windows! 😀

Maybe this will help someone else, with a similar problem.

    Added the Label resolved
  • Thank you so much!! You saved my life. After updating I lost the OMV zfs plugin. The pool was working, but it wasn't accessible from the interface. And now everything is working again!!!
