Advice wanted for Filesystem/Raid in first Setup

I installed OMV today on a Ugreen DXP2800, disabled the EMMC internal boot drive and used a USB SSD for System boot partition.

I plan to use the system as Media Server, first backup level for 3 Linux clients and hopefully as sync target for some android phones. Future will show what else might be useful, some dockers for sure. I plan to do backup via external USB drive for the time being.

I got 2 8 TB HDDs an 2 1 TB NVMe SSDs to get installed in the DXP2800

What is an appropriate way to use this setup in terms of Filesystem/Raid and maybe other things I'm not aware of at all.

First of all, Raid is not a backup. https://www.raidisnotabackup.com/

I would use the mergerfs plugin to merge data drives. https://wiki.omv-extras.org/do…mv7:omv7_plugins:mergerfs

If you're going to use a USB drive for backups, check out the openmediavault-usbbackup plugin. USB backup plugin (openmediavault-usbbackup)

As for syncing smartphones, you can use Syncthing in a Docker container. https://wiki.omv-extras.org/do…7:docker_in_omv#syncthing

That last link has some suggestions on data drive configurations to optimize Docker.
