Drive names change at almost every reboot

  • This is on System #2 spoiler. Actually on 7.7.9-1 now another update since initial.

Two issues actually but not related.

1)After the 7.7.7-1 update my dashboard stopped showing any content in any of the graphs. The gauges show but not graphs, as in CPU,Network interfaces, load average, memory usage, files system usage, only one working is DiskI/O.

I searched and found little but did try update again and apt-get dist-upgrade, and omv-first-aid = Check configuration status file, clear local upload package repository, configure workbench.

    2) Drive names change every reboot, as in physical drive named sdb will be sdc, d, e, f, h, etc next boot.

There are 10 Drives 6 or on board SATA's and the rest on an PCI sata drive controller. RAID10: BTRFS

This is normal and one reason OMV is not using them; instead it is using predictable device names under the hood and only displays the kernel device names in the UI because they are shorter.

  • Ok thanks on the drive names answer, any idea about the no graphs on Dashboard after update?
