How to dissolve RAID1?

    Hello,


    I am currently using two 10TB hard disks in a RAID1. One of the two hard disks is reporting errors via SMART and will probably die soon. I have the following plans:


    - Dissolve RAID1

    - Remove the dying hard disk

    - Insert a new hard disk

    - Do not create a new RAID, use the new hard disk as backup storage


    My question is: Do I have to remove both hard disks of the RAID1 under Storage - Multiple Device - Remove, or just the one I want to remove?

    Unless someone knows different, you can't revert a mdadm RAID to individual drives.


    Get you new drive, copy the data to it, then wipe and reformat the good drive from the RAID. You then have two independent drives.
