OMV4 to 7 upgrade whilst other changes as well

    Hi,


    Been using OMV4 for ages and have never touched it other than to try and upgrade it to OMV5 which always failed so I just gave up as 4 was working without issues.


    Now, I'm wanting to amalgamate 2 PC's into 1 using Proxmox (Plex Media Server & OMV) whilst upgrading my hardware. The only thing not being upgraded is my Raid card.


    What's the best course of action for me. Been reading a few posts on here and Reddit and think I've confused myself. Should I just be doing a config backup so that when I do the fresh install of 7 I can get my drive config's back correctly?

    OMV 4 is so old that trying to upgrade from 4 to 5 to 6 to 7 is going to be full of problems since the repos have change and/or are not around. A fresh install of 7 is your best option. You should take screenshots of your omv4 config to recreate on omv7. You won't lose any data. Just mount the existing filesystems and recreate the shared folders using existing folders. Then re-configure your plugins/services.
