Debian 13 Released!
Will there be any roadmap/upgrade for Openmediavault?
Where can I find the future roadmap/planning for Openmediavault?
Thank you very much!

The Debian 13 based openmediavault will be released when it is done. This mostly happened with the first dot release, in this case 13.1.
Possible new features can be found in the GitHub issues.
And to be clear, omv 7.x will NOT run on debian 13.

Thank you all very much for your efforts on OMV! Brilliant!!

the biggest question when this issue will be moved to OMV 9.x

There is absolutely no strong reason to replace it. It would be a nice gimmick, but it is not essential to run OMV.
And yes, I expect it will not be in OMV8.

Because there is a big need for it? Not sure why you would make this comment since 8.x work hasn't even really started.
i am thinking moving to a more standard REST API could help the OMV ecosystem and potentially bring in plugin developers.
(as much as i love OMV, i feel their maintainers are getting irritated at every slight joke attempt or feature suggestion)

I don't see how it would help with plugins since a rest api would be used for external things. Do you have any examples?

Maybe it didn't seem like a joke and more like an insult. I have added many features from suggestions lately without irritation. But the irritation comes from the high level of ungrateful people (not referring to you) lately and the lack of help. You should try volunteering a lot of your time only to have people still complain and see if you are happy all the time.
We at least have a concrete date of Debian 13.1 landing! https://lists.debian.org/debia…nce/2025/09/msg00000.html

Hoping this helps the OMV8 release. ![]()
Hoping this helps the OMV8 release.
Just out of curiosity, what do you expect from the release of OMV8...?
I expect Debian Trixie and world peace. But would settle for the former.
I expect Debian Trixie
What do you need Trixie for?
Debian Nonfree amd64 Official
intel-media-va-driver-non-free_25.2.3+ds1-1_amd64.deb (trying to install this on Bookworm gave me an awesome Frankendebian because it requires Trixie glibc, etc)
My hardware is too new for Bookworm. (Intel Core Ultra)
So for this one particular case, much better hardware acceleration/power usage.
I can only repeat myself: It will be released, when it is done.

Is this for video transcoding?

install the 6.14 proxmox kernel then. It is newer than the 6.12 trixie kernel.
My use case is usually running PBS and OMV in parallel. So PB4 and OMV8 .

I know. I posted about 13.1 release because you mentioned above that OMV typically comes around the first point release (13.1).
Is this for video transcoding?
Yep! Intel Quick Sync Video is hard to beat. A blessing to have for Jellyfin and Frigate.

I was hoping to avoid installing another new layer but it's definitely an option. I'm hoping to not do it since I've not done it before and didn't want to add complexity.
