Repeated Failing OMV7 Install onto RasPi 5 4Gb Bookworm

  • I am having an issue installing OMV onto my Raspberry Pi 5. I've tried it ~9 times now. The last few tries was following this link to the letter: https://wiki.omv-extras.org/do…omv7:raspberry_pi_install .

I get all the way through the install and I get to the below screenshot and it just freezes. I was also following this link: https://github.com/openmediava…9#issuecomment-3505577343 . Whatever I do, it just won't finish the install. And yes, I go to the IP address to see if it just didn't show up in ssh, and it gives me the "site can't be reached" error, so install didn't finish.

My only potential idea is I have a M.2 hat installed, which is where my drives will plug into eventually. Do I have to get OMV installed prior to the hat installation?

Changed the title of the thread from “OMV7 Install onto RasPi 5 4Gb Bookworm” to “Repeated Failing OMV7 Install onto RasPi 5 4Gb Bookworm”.

    Approved the thread.
  • I tried it again this morning with the M.2 hat removed, and it still hangs up at the same point. I will say I did notice one error in the ssh screen that is different from the traces listed in the github issue comment link in first post.

It is the dpkg error as listed below.

At this point, I've now run into the same error 10 times and am following the guides as recommended. After the reboot (post updates), do I need the hard drives connected during the install of OMV? I can't have them hooked up during initial boot of course.

That error can be safely ignored. It happens only during installation because dpkg can only do one thing at a time.

That is the only "error" you are seeing? Guess I will hide it in the next version of omv-extras. I can't tell where it is hanging without the rest of the output from the script.

No. The instructions actually tell you to not connect them.
