OMV 8.0.6 ZFS Error

  • Sometime within the last 24 hours, my shared folders stopped working. I can still connect to the top level share, but none of the actual shared folders work.

I finally had a chance to dig in this morning and under Storage>ZFS, my ZFS file system seems to have disappeared with the following error:

This is strange because I hadn't touched the server in over a week. I went ahead and ran all available updates and rebooted, to no avail. Attempting to run "modprobe zfs" returns the error: "Module zfs not found in directory /lib/modules/6.12.63+deb13-amd64". My hunch is that somehow the ZFS plugin is not working well with the updated, underlying Debian OS. Per the above image, ZFS is still listed under storage, it could be that something is not loading correctly.

I have a backup from about a week ago, but I'm really hoping I can recover my existing ZFS pools and it's just as simple as poking around and getting ZFS working properly.

Did you install any updates? I probably caused this with the plugin update to "help" the dkms issues. About ready to pull this damn plugin. What is the output of: dpkg -l | grep -E "openme|zfs" Info from /var/log/apt/term.log would be helpful too.

I would have previously updated on 1/4 when I do my first of the month backup and updates. No issues until last night. I ran updates this morning to see if that solved the issue, so I'm up to date as of this morning. Ran the grep command and the following is the output. I've also attached my term.log to this post, though it only seems to be for the 1/4 update, not this mornings. It's also looking like this happened after upgrading from OMV 7.0 to 8.0.

I don't see anything wrong. Your term log is from omv7. All I can guess is that you got a new kernel and it failed to compile a new zfs module because you still have the debian12/omv7 zfs packages. Have you run the fix7to8upgrade script?
