After a system disk failure I decided to install V7 which seemed to go OK. However I now can't access the data disks I created in V5.5
Can't access data drives created in OMV5.5 after installing V7

What have you tried? What went wrong? Do you have any error logs?
-
Hi chente thanks for reply.
Nothing went wrong that I can see. I installed OMV7 but can't see anyfiles on any network machine. The directory structure is there but can't see anyfiles only in OMV file browser, not on any network machine.

Since you mentioned you were already using OMV5, it seems a bit out of place to ask this, but ... Have you created any shared folders? Have you shared them over the network using Samba or something else?
-
Yes I have, and it appears OK, but is not visible on the network machines. In fact the OMV server is not visible to any machines on the network.
Just FYI there are 3 desktops all with ubuntu 20.04 and 2 laptops with ubuntu 20.04 and one laptop with bodhi linux 6
OMV5 worked very well for over 3 years but I could't reinstall it from the ISO image on the CD rom, but OMV7 installed OK
And yes it is all on Samba as I migrated from Windows several years ago.

Do you have SSH access to the server?
-
-
Yes I do ( i think) but have never used it on linux. I used it a few times years ago when the server was NT5

Hi there, I installed PuTTY but can't log on. I tried every user password combination I could think of starting with the one that still works in the webUI. I just get "access denied".
If I get in what am I supposed to do in the SSH terminal?

you need to use "root" and the rootpassword to log.
rootpassword is configured first time you install OMV and is not the same password that "admin" use.

I get the feeling you installed and configured OMV5 and haven't accessed the OMV GUI since. Am I right?
If that's the case, you might want to refresh your configuration procedures. https://wiki.omv-extras.org/doku.php?id=omv8:new_user_guide

Yes of course. That got me in.
But what am I supposed to do there?

But what am I supposed to do there?
You don't need to do anything. I just asked if you had SSH access to make sure your server is on the network and accessible.
All you need to do is set up shared folders and share them on the network. The guide I linked explains how to do that.

Hi there, I re-did config following guides, but I still can't see any files from network machines, only using OMV file browser. My OMV server is not visible on the network. There is no data loss as I can see it from my. OMV server. Where should I go from here. Iall worked fine for 3 years on OMV5
Would appreciate any help.

What exactly did you do? Maybe screenshots of the different configuration you have done might help to identify a missing step.
Only configurations related to network shares.

Hi Macom, I'm backfrom the field trip. Here are some screen shots as you suggested.

I can only access files through OMV filebrowser
