Omv8 file browser stopped working

  • Reconfigured my system from 7 to 8, made some config adjustments and all was good. Then the file browser service stopped working. Worked post update, changed password, can’t see anything I could have broken. Workbench says it’s up. Doesn’t matter if I point my browser to it directly or go via omv web interface. No updates pending. Stopped/started the service, server and changed shares that it’s pointed to. Nothing in the diag logs. Client says the server stopped responding.

    Ideas?

  • 10-15 retries gets me to the password prompt but not beyond that.

Deinstalled browser plug-in, rebooted and reinstalled, no change.

  • Uninstall the plugin and delete the directory /var/lib/filebrowser/. Then install the plugin again.

That directory did survive the uninstall but uninstall, delete and reinstall didn’t change anything.

  • i have met this issue. just got a blank page. Delete /var/lib/filebrowser does no help.

If you do not select a certificate in the settings, you can access filebrowser normally via http://nas-ip:3670. However, if you add a certificate, it will redirect to HTTPS but show a blank page.

No cert specified, http returns blank page, 1 time in 10-15 I get to the pwd prompt so it's not network connectivity imo.

Friends, please help me solve the problem described above. I can't log in from the outside internet. I wrote to the developer about the problem, and he sent me the following response https://github.com/gtsteffania…8#issuecomment-4200725955

But I don't know what to do or where to go. I just really need everything to work.

This is the Caddy2 configuration file for the reverse proxy. The mentioned settings are already included. If you've found a solution, it would be great if you could let us know so we can update the plugin.

Can you tell me what I should do with this config? Where is this file located in the system, or do I need to upload it somehow? If I can't handle this, I'm willing to wait for an update.

I'm not really sure which reverse proxy your link is referring to. Probably not the one OMV uses to implement HTTPS. The author of the GH post is probably referring to the reverse proxy you need to set up to access your apps from outside. As far as OMV is concerned, the configuration should be correct based on the documentation. You can find the file at /var/lib/filebrowser/Caddyfile if you want to test it out. But keep in mind that you'll then need to restart the container's systemd unit files.

  • Hello everyone! Something needs to be done! FileBrowser 2.32.0 in the latest version of OMV 7.7.24-7 works perfectly, both on the internal local network and on the external network (via the internet) using a Keenetic router. However, FileBrowser 1.2.4 (stable) in the latest version of OMV 8.2.4-1 (Synchrony) can't connect from the external network (internet), displaying "authorization status": 401, "message": "no token present in request"

I'm trying to solve this issue using artificial intelligence, but nothing's working. I'm starting to drink myself to death. As far as I understand, these are different plugin developers!

In OMV Filebrowser-Quantum is used because the original Filebrowser is not maintained anymore.

Please try to find a solution and report back, so that I can adapt and improve the plugin.

It’s starting to really get on my nerves that I always have to do everything myself. But my enthusiasm for this fades when all I ever hear are demands; my idea of open source, however, is that a community works together to foster an ecosystem. I’m more than willing to lay the groundwork, just as I’ve always done over the past two decades with OMV, but since I’m developing OMV in my spare time, my patience will eventually run out.

I’m just reporting my symptoms, sorry that stresses you out. I saw there was a new release of the browser yesterday so I thought it was worth trying and reporting back (no idea what you’re saying about previous browser).

If there is more debugging info or logs I can provide tell me how (not a Linux guy).

It looks like I've found the cause of this problem. My internet access is configured through the Keenetic router domain name (Keenetic Cloud). The issue isn't with my Caddy settings, but with the way Keenetic routers work. Because of this, traffic is forced to use HTTPS, even if you explicitly configure HTTP forwarding.
