Good morning together,

I tried to install an update today on both computers. I have one for testing and I got no errors during the update. The other show me this error message:

I tried to open http://httpredir.debian.org/debian trixie-updates main contrib non-free non-free-firmware or http://httpredir.debian.org/debian trixie main contrib non-free non-free-firmware but it doesn`t work. I can open https://httpredir.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openssh/

Would it be also better to substitute deb http://httpredir.debian.org/debian trixie-backports main contrib non-free non-free-firmware in

Thanks for your advice. What about to substitute http://httpredir.debian.org/debian? I have read that http://deb.debian.org/debian is the common modern way?

If httpredir wasn't correct, for sure devs would change it to some thing different, i guess

deb.debian.org is the modern, recommended default for Debian repositories, having replaced httpredir.debian.org as the primary redirect service since May 2017.

The older httpredir.debian.org domain now redirects to deb.debian.org, which utilizes a Fastly CDN to automatically direct users to the geographically closest mirror for faster download speeds.

While httpredir.debian.org was historically used for its universal mirror redirection capabilities, deb.debian.org is optimized for current stable, testing, and unstable releases and supports both HTTP and HTTPS.

Current Standard: deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm main (or https with apt-transport-https).
Legacy Status: httpredir.debian.org is obsolete and redirects to the newer service.
Security Context: Debian packages are cryptographically signed by APT, making HTTP traffic safe for package verification despite the lack of encryption, though HTTPS is available for privacy and proxy compatibility.

This is something you can or should do, but it's not required. httpredir points to the correct address, so everything works as usual. Don't always believe everything the LLM says.
