Question about WireGuard

  • Hello !

I am trying WireGuard OMV Plugin for a while.

I have an active Tunnel and Client, and I can remote access my Home LAN (omv host and running containers with exposed ports for Web Interface).

Everything's OK, except for one docker container (haugene/transmission-openvpn).

While searching why I can't reach this container outside of my LAN, I tried another WireGuard solution (WireGuard Easy running thought a docker image : ghcr.io/wg-easy/wg-easy:15)

For my surprise it work's! I can remote access all containers including transmission-openvpn Web Interface.

What could possibly make this difference behaviour between WireGuard OMV Plugin and WireGuard Easy ?

I tried compare the two configs but I am completely newbie in linux and networking.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

  • I asked an AI about this and the reason for the different behavior seems to be that WireGuard Easy is doing NAT. transmission-openvpn has the parameter LOCAL_NETWORK. Adding the ip range of the wireguard network from the plugin to it would probably make them behave the same.
