Snapraid - Number of deleted files exceeded threshold

  • Hello everyone,

I'm using the SnapRAID plugin in OpenMediaVault. I have my "Delete Threshold" set to 100. Yesterday, I manually deleted a large number of files, and as expected, the sync script failed because the threshold was exceeded.

In the OMV SnapRAID interface, I see three sync options:

    1. Sync
    2. Force Sync
    3. Force Empty Sync

Could you please clarify which one is the correct way to proceed when I intentionally deleted files and want to ignore the threshold warning? I'm confused between "Force Sync" and "Force Empty Sync".

For now, I've temporarily set the threshold to 0 and ran a standard Sync... But for future reference, I’d like to know the intended way to handle this.

    Thank you!

I believe my answer is too late to solve your issue, but here it is:

You need to select "Force Sync".

"Force Empty Sync" would be used to force a sync without any data - for example, a new, empty array

    My all-in-one SnapRAID script!

  • Hello,

If the deletions were intentional, Force Sync is the option you want. It tells SnapRAID to proceed with the sync despite the delete threshold being exceeded. Force Empty Sync is different it is intended for when you want to completely empty/reset the parity information, so you definitely don't want to use that just because you've deleted a lot of files. So for your situation, next time you can leave the threshold at 100 and use Force Sync after verifying that the deletions were intentional. genesiscard.com
