New GUI

  • This new GUI is horrible (I guess it is a new GUI), how can I get back to the old one!.

    Edit:

I just hope that this was some kind of glitch in graphics and not real new OMV GUI.

Restored using timeshift to an earlier OMV version and I am back to the "old" GUI.

What new GUI? The gui is the same framework for years.

Saying something is horrible without giving some constructive feedback is a horrible post.

Yes, that is exactly what I knew and that "old" gui is great. As I said in my edits, it could have been some kind of graphics or something else. I restored, using timeshift, earlier OMV version and to my relief the "old" gui was back. Too bad I did not take a screen snapshot to show what I have seen. I am gflad that all is back to normal. My bad for jumping the gun.

What do you mean "graphics"? Like the background image when logging on? Did you hit ctrl-shift-R? Going back to the old version isn't really fixing the issue.

  • If anything qualifies as an old GUI, it would be OMV 5 (and presumably earlier, though I didn't start using it until 5).

The current GUI has been in place since OMV 6, so at least 3 or 4 years.

I too struggle to understand what OP's complaint is.

  • Hi

I'm a forum newbie, so please be kind.

There was one update this morning (Australian Time), and I applied it an hour ago.

I think it was a core openmediavault package, but i didn't pay too much attention, as i hadn't even started my first coffee!!!!

OMV NAS still seems to be working normally, but the appearance of the GUI is pretty well messed up, and some pages don't present correctly at all.

For, example, I want to change the hostname of my OMV NAS, and when I go to that page, there is text directly over the top of the area where i would change the hostname

Also, In the Compose Files section, if i go to edit a file, what is displayed on the screen is truncated.

I can still select all in the file, so i can still work on any file, but it clearly isn't apprearing how it should be

Hopefully the next updates fixes this

I dont have Timeshift installed, so i can't go down that path.

Please see the attachments as examples of how the GUI now appears after the update this morning

Yes, I did try ctrl-shift-R but that did not do anything to correct the issue. Login screen was just blue and login fields were in upper left corner and not as a sepatate widget. When loged in screen was solid blue with with Dashboard widgets filing the screen. There was no side bar, just through center of the screen section headers. Top center horizontalt were round icons for Notification Help Profile Settings and Power. I really shoud have taken screenshot. I do not know if it was some kind of screen/graphics corruption, I doubt that, or some left over GUI never implemented gui test in the code that through some corruption surfaced.

Well, going back to were OMV was couple of days ago might not be optimal solution but in this case fixed the issue. After rebooting I did run update to the latest OMV environment. As I said I am back to the OMV 8 GUI and all is working fine.
