systemd-ssh-generator failed cannot assign requested address

  • I don't believe I've changed anything but I now have an error with SSH. From `dmesg`:

    Code
systemd-ssh-generator[254]: Failed to query local AF_VSOCK CID: Cannot assign requested address
    (sd-exec-[243]: /usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/systemd-ssh-generator failed with exit status 1.

    OpenMediaVault 8.5.6-1

    Linux 7.1.3+deb13-amd64

This is in a VM on a Proxmox server so I can access the command line via the Proxmox Console. I can't access the machine via SSH. SSH was working as recently as last week. Restarting the VM doesn't make any difference. Everything else in the OMV VM is fine. The VM has a static IP on the LAN.

Update: Found another forum post for the same error (although their workaround makes no sense): https://forum.proxmox.com/thre…k-cid.185221/#post-865886

Update: Calling `netplan generate` also returns the error for the systemd-ssh-generator

Edited 2 times, last by Boggin: `netplan generate` fails, too. ().

  • I have exactly the same problem.

I'm also running OMV in a VM on Proxmox with OpenMediaVault 8.5.6-1 and Linux 7.1.3+deb13-amd64

    No solution so far

  • When the latest updates landed this week I applied them and now the problem has gone away. Perhaps it was an upstream regression with SSH?
