openmediavault-zfs want OMV >= 8.3, but my repository only offers 8.1.1

  • Hello,
I want to install openmediavault-zfs, but it fails because it depends on openmediavault >= 8.3

    Code
    Unsatisfied dependencies:
    openmediavault-zfs : Depends: openmediavault (>= 8.3) but 8.1.1-1 is to be installed

The problem is that 8.1.1-1 appears to be the latest version available on all the mirrors I’ve tested, including the GitHub Pages fallback repository, whilst the project’s changelog shows much more recent versions (8.5.7). I checked the contents of the Packages file directly on both domains (packages.openmediavault.io and openmediavault.github.io/packages), and both confirm that 8.1.1 is the most recent version available for the openmediavault package.

Is this a known issue related to the expiry of the openmediavault.org domain, or is there a configuration problem with my system that I haven’t yet identified?

    Output from the commands below:

  • votdev

It does look like one of the repos has been reverted to a backup votdev

    $ sudo apt-cache policy openmediavault

    openmediavault:

    Installed: 8.5.7-1

    Candidate: 8.5.7-1

    Version table:

    *** 8.5.7-1 500

    500 http://packages.openmediavault.org/public synchrony/main amd64 Packages

    100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

    8.1.1-1 500

    500 http://packages.openmediavault.io synchrony/main amd64 Packages

But the other one is fine. Post the output of:

    sudo omv-salt deploy run apt

    sudo apt-get update

    omv 8.5.11-1 synchrony | 7.0 proxmox kernel

    plugins:

Is there a reason you didn't start with the 8.3.1 iso? https://sourceforge.net/projec…diavault/files/iso/8.3.1/

  • Thanks you for the answer, here is the output asked

  • Is there a reason you didn't start with the 8.3.1 iso?

I started with a 6.x.x ISO a couple of years ago and upgraded OMV major versions twice.

Recently an apt autoremove removed the openmediavault package and I reinstalled all the missing packages manually. However I don't think this is linked to the issue I mention as I couldn't already install openmediavault-zfs before the removal of openmediavault package.

Your omv database and the omv version installed don't match.

    Make /etc/apt/sources.list.d/openmediavault.list look like this:

    deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/openmediavault-archive-keyring.gpg] http://packages.openmediavault.org/public/ synchrony main

    deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/openmediavault-archive-keyring.gpg] http://packages.openmediavault.io/ synchrony main

    then run:

    sudo apt-get update

    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

And just because I am the one helping, please use apt-get when I ask for apt-get. I don't like the output of apt.

    omv 8.5.11-1 synchrony | 7.0 proxmox kernel

My bad, I'll be careful about it in the future. I didn't know the output was different.
    Thanks for your help.
