Plex not working after update on 1.0.29

  • Hi. I had Plex installed and running fine on OMV 0.3 (I beleive Plex was version 9.7.7)
Updated to 1.0.29 today, installed extra plugins, updated it to 1.0.13, enabled plex repo, installed it from SSH at first and then installed it from the Web GUI just to be sure. Plex shows up in the Web GUI, I then enabled it in the settings: I can't access it using a browser on the local network (tried the localip:32400/web, localip:8888/web and localip:32400/manage with http and https without success).

Logging in via putty on my OMV machine shows that PMS is indeed running. I have verified that port 32400 is still forwarded in my local router and it is (both tcp and udp).

Here is the result of my stat /media/6144c800-d52d-4468-bfae-96a8e4a823a2/plexmediaserver

    Code
    root@openmediavault:/tmp# stat /media/6144c800-d52d-4468-bfae-96a8e4a823a2/plexmediaserver

And the result of my id plex

    Code
    uid=111(plex) gid=65534(nogroup) groupes=65534(nogroup),1000(Media)

Permissions (111) seem right, I'm not sure what I should try next :/

The new plugin uses an improved move and chowns the database files. Not sure how permissions could be the issue after a chown command.

I understand that there a couple of issues but I don't know why. People are posting the output of the permissions and the permissions are right. On this thread, PMS is running. So, not sure how the plugin is at fault.

All I can recommend is uninstalling the plugin, deleting the plex user, and reinstalling.

I don't know that it is the plugin, necessarily. I think it's probably something in whatever calls the server daemon to run.

What is the output of: cat /etc/openmediavault/config.xml | awk '/<plexmediaserver>/,/<\/plexmediaserver>/'

  • I don't know. I tried to uninstall plexmediaserver so that I could have a fresh install before trying anything else. It returned an error when uninstalling, and not it will neither install nor uninstall.

Here's what it says when I try to install

We really need to keep this on one thread...

You must have deleted the user? The installation doesn't finish because the plex user isn't there.

  • Ok so I uninstalled and got this error message:

    Code
    Restarting engine daemon ...
/etc/monit/conf.d/openmediavault-filesystem.conf:28: Error: service name conflict, fs_media_10FCCB74FCCB52A0 already defined '/media/10FCCB74FCCB52A0'

Then made sure to delete the user Plex

    Code
    root@openmediavault:~# userdel plex
    userdel : l'utilisateur plex n'existe pas

I then deleted the following folders:

    rm -rf /etc/default/plexmediaserver
    rm -rf /media/6144c800-d52d-4468-bfae-96a8e4a823a2/plexmediaserver
    rm -rf '/var/lib/plexmediaserver

And finally reinstalled through the Web GUI, but got the following error message:

Then when I setup the DB folder and try to activate Plex in the Web GUI is get the following error message:

It seems to work for some, but for me reinstalling actually made it worse than before!
