[HOWTO] PXE-Boot various systems

Did somebody manage to get a windows iso zo pxe boot? I used that a couple of days ago to install a new ssd but I had to use a windows software on my desktop, cause my nas had to install the ssd. The main reason behind that is that many win8 isos are now bigger than a normal dvd can hold and i do not have a reliable usb stick atm with a size higher than 4gb.

I have to say, pxe booting the win8 iso from windows worked pretty good.

I am looking at new laptops and a many do not come with DVD/CD drives, because they are making them so thin I think.

Of course, but I do not have a USB stick right now...

I have problems when booting. The process works fine until the "nfsmount" hangs complaining that "need a path".

I set up all like Solo suggested but can't find how to solve that.

Help will be appreciated.

Hi, little HowTo for Windows. My settings with FritzBox Router. Thx for help here in forum.

then download WinPE images from here and follow the instructions.

dont forget to enable samba share permission or enable guest activated. (i had issues with the command net use, if not enable, cause win wont accept the user and pass)
net use v: \\192.168.178.250\PXE\images\isos\windows7x64

Has anyone tackled PXE Boot in OMV 5 ?

So i was thinking of creating my own files from scratch..
The thing is just. i dont know what file type the menu is saved as or where to start.

am i that lucky that someone have a few files i can look in to so i can see how to make my own set to use on my OMV7 box?
or mayby just point to a page where theres some help to get?

Not really.
I have tryed to work on the menu and tryed to look in to a sub menu.
But i needed an extra drive in my NAS to work from and to make matters wores...
My NAS motherboard died the other day.
So now im trying to get my hands on a "new" used and so exact model as the dead one in a try to save my software raid harddisk pool...

Computers are just pain xD

But the link looks like its worth looking at and try out when i get my NAS up and running again
