Installing steamCMD and game servers ... anyone done this before?

So i was interested in installing steam on my openmediavault machine in order to host an arma 3 server, however when i serached this forum, theres no information about how to install steam or steamCMD, so i was just wondering if anyone has tried this before and possibly could help me set this up correctly?

anyway i googled a bit and tried to figure out how to install steam and arma 3 server on linux and found this:

has anyone done this before or am i the only one that thinks it would be cool to run gameservers on my openmediavault pc?

i have been trying for quite some hours now to run arma 3 wastelands server with mysql extensions, but i need GLIBC_2.17+ to do this ...

is it possible to install GLIBC_2.17+ without breaking the installation?
