External Harddrive mounts, can't access contents

I set up an old laptop to run OMV. I managed to get it running and the web ui on my other computer. I attached my external drive, it finds it, i mounted it and it shows 90 percent full of data which is good but I can't access it. When I open the shared folder it is blank. I can write files to it but the files that are on the drive I can't find.
