    Hello together,

I´ve got a very strange but frustrating issue with my OMV 4 installation. I´ve got a standard install with OMV4 and have got 4x 8TB drives attached (2x WD, 2x HGST). All of them are normally connected (no RAID) and working properly (no SMART issues ever since).

Now the strange thing over the last couple of months is that several folders magically disappeared from the disk. I´ve got no clue what might caused this and was hoping that someone else did have the same issue somehow. All drives are installed via SATA (not USB), they are partitioned with ext4 file system and working fine as I can tell (no SMART issue yet). That folder deletion is happening on all drives and is not specific to a single drive.

I ran already some tools to rescue (presumable deleted) files / folders, none of them did find any of those deleted folder / files. Also the drive size is as if the files have been deleted properly. Just today I found that some movies I had placed in the movies folder did magically vanish.....

?( I am very confused and have no more idea what to do. I also was hoping to find some useful info in the server log, but that wasn't the case.

On the other hand It is not clear when this really does happen, so it might already happened weeks ago... and there is no indication when it will happen again.

Does anyone of you have an idea what to do next?

Is there any way to get notified (by email?) if files in shared folders become deleted?

Is installing snap raid / unionfs a good solution (will it help if it is indeed a filesystem issue)?

    Thanks

    Stefan

Netatalk stopped working from one day to the other, leaving me behind with no clue how to fix it.

The service itself is running, but there is an error indeed (restarting the service didn't help):

When looking for the file, it is there and has the follwing stated inside:

    Code
    sg@openmediavault:/$ cat /var/lock/netatalk
    11013
    sg@openmediavault:/$

    Anyone able to help?

When updating (apt-get) OMV I get this:

I don't know what happened, but the user 1000 is not there anymore. The new user has the UID 1001 now.

Anyone any Idea what I can do?

    Thanks

Hmm.... OK, syslog is telling me the following:

Where can change the errors coming from the wrong mountingpoint and collectd?

    Thanks

    HI guys,

can anyone point me in the right direction regarding the following issue:

"Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C.UTF-8; omv-mkconf collectd 2>&1' with exit code '1': id: ‘1000’: no such user run-parts: /usr/share/openmediavault/mkconf/collectd.d/drivemon exited with return code 1"

I some time ago deleted my primary user and created a new one, which I use for all other things I do within OMV (Docker, SMB etc.).

User ID 1000 is the specific ID of the old user, but I don't get where there is the link to that error.

    Thanks for any help

    Stefan

    I'm having the same idea....

One of two 2TB disks died lately in my running RAID 1, so I bought two new 8 TB drivers.

I replaced the failing 2TB disk with one of the new 8 TB disks.

Then I did a rebuild of the RAID 1

Next I moved out the second / working 2TB disk and replaced it with the second 8TB disk.

Then I did a rebuild of the RAID 1 again

Now I got two 8 TB drives, containing all my data and all is working fine, except that now I got a RAID 1 with still 2 TB instead of 8 TB in size.

Is there any way to increase an already running and working RAID 1? Like a partition resize or something?

I thought I could do it here:

But clicking on resize didn't do anything.....

    Thanks

    Hi guys,

regarding portainer I've got two things...:

    1) There is already a pretty handy feature in portainer which enables updating containers very easily! That alone is a feature which should everyone prefer portainer over OMVs build-in docker utility. In portanier GUI click: Containers -> Select Container -> Click “Recreate” followed by “Pull latest image”. That pulls the latest image for the container and redeploys the container with that latest image. So you won't be needed to a) reconfigure the docker one by one with every param. nor b) use tools like watchtower

    2) Actually more like a question, is it preferred to run portainer itself also as docker image? Why not install it natively, is there any reason?
How is "Install Portainer" in OMV5 done, installed natively or as well as docker image?

    Thanks
    Stefan

    That seems to be:

    forked-daapd/oldstable,now 24.2-2 amd64 [installiert]

    Hello guys,

I would like to add IPv6 to an additional network on my server network port (eht0). For IPv4 it works like that:

But how do I add IPv6 addresses to the new network host "test"?!

Any help is appreciated, I have a dual stack WAN connection and want to use pihole for adblocking.
For IPv4 it works already, but since all my network devices are using IPv6 as well, the do every DNS query preferred via IPv6 (RFC standard) and such bypass everything IPv4 configured / based.

    Thank you,
    Stefan

    Hey guys,

I've got a question regarding Docker and Letsencrypt (DuckDNS).

Everything is up and running fine, the certificate has been generated (DuckDNS) and is locally available now (via Reverse Proxy Setup).
What is the best way to share the certificate for other usages like Emby, Pyload, Nextcloud etc..?

Letsencrypt will update the certificate every 3 months, and uploading the certificates manually every time is not very user-friendly (but the most secure way?). Is it possible to link to the files only? And how about the access itself, is it wise to give full access to the private key as well when linking to them (in term of security)?

    Thanks
    Stefan :)

    Hello everyone,

since today, my docker is not working anymore.

    Someone any idea?

    Hello together,

I would like to add the blog page on openmediavault.org to my RSS reader (to quickly see the content of new OMV updates).
Other homepages like Emby, Kodi etc. are supporting RSS for that since a long time now, can you please add the possibility as well?

    Thanks
