I'm not sure if you are aware of the fact that I am trying to install OMV on a WD MyCloud Gen1? If yes please let me know where to find instructions on how to set it up using the netinstaller you suggested. I am referring to the images for MyCloud provided by fox_exe, see this Thread:
Why are you trying to install Jessie?
Basically because I did not find any images for Stretch... I now ran into another problem, when installing the Debian images, I can successfully connect to the box via SSH. I then just run
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
There are no errors, the upgrade runs very smoothly. However, when I reboot the WDMC, I cannot connect any more, I don't even see it on the network, it does not request an IP address from the DHCP server which means it basically is bricked. I have restored the images I created from an original WDMC connecting the hard drive directly to my PC which works fine. I could not figure out though what went wrong with the update... No error messages at all. Any ideas?
Hi folks!
I am trying to install OMV on a WD MyCloud Gen 1. First I installed a clean Debian Jessie image and brought it up to date by executing apt-get dist-upgrade. Now I tried to follow these instructions for Jessie:
https://openmediavault.readthe…stallation/on_debian.html
However, this is what happens:
root@MyCloud:~# apt-get --yes --force-yes --auto-remove --show-upgraded --no-install-recommends --option Dpkg::Options::="--force-confdef" --option DPkg::Options::="--force-confold" install postfix openmediavault

Thanks for your fast support, it works!
Thanks heaps! I obviously did not remember that! However, it still does not work as I run into another problem now. The share now is visible on Windows and Linux clients, however, I can connect but I get a "permission denied" error when trying to write to the share. I assume that I need to adjust the ACL settings which proves to be impossible. Whenever I try to save my settings I get an error message like this:
Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C; setfacl --remove-all -M '/tmp/setfaclps17no' -- '/srv/dev-disk-by-id-ata-WDC_WD60EFRX-68L0BN1_WD-WX21DA6JXF2H-part2/media' 2>&1' with exit code '1': setfacl: /srv/dev-disk-by-id-ata-WDC_WD60EFRX-68L0BN1_WD-WX21DA6JXF2H-part2/media: Operation not supported

Hi!
I have just finished setting up omv on a WDMC NAS. As it turned out, the shares I added are unavailable. I checked the /etc/samba/smb.conf file and the "Share Definitions" section is emtpy:

I've recorded a video of the GUI as the config file is too long to paste here:
https://www.useloom.com/share/…b665147b8bc783d60b7e0d819
Any ideas what may cause that issue? Another problem I have is that my users cannot log in via SSH. As I do not assume that there is any connection between these problems, I have opened a separate thread for that.
Hi!
I've just finished setting up my third omv box (WDMC) and I've run into some new problems. I have activated SSH login for some of my users, I've set /bin/bash as their shell (which is available and working) - but they are not able to log in. I can log in using the root account, but the other accounts fail. The strange thing is that the users are being added to the /etc/passwd (/etc/shadow files):
PassswordAuthentication is turned on in sshd_config. And yes, the password is correct. I've changed it a couple of times without luck. I've tried with and without user home directories, neither works.
Here is my config.xml file (ssh config part, forum software claimed my config.xml was too long):
<!-- Plugin configuration area -->

Hi folks,
Two of my WDMCs Gen2 have now been running OMV successfully for more than a year. As I ran out of disk space, I just purchased a new one. It's still one of the "old" ones, looking the same as all the other WDMCs I own, it's not one of the fancy "new" ones (that only work with an active Internet connection - no idea whose idea that was). Still, the file system structure looks a bit different. I just want to make sure that the instructions found here
http://anionix.ddns.net/WDMyCl…Gen2/Debian/_howto_en.txt
will still work with this WDMC.
That's the output of df -h:
root@WDMyCloud root # df -h

Currently, the WDMC is running firmware 2.21.126, the serial number starts with WX21DA6xxxxx.
Can anyone tell me if WDMC is still supposed to work on this device?
Solved:
- Partition Type needs to be 15 (Linux Filesystem)
- Partition must NOT be mounted in /etc/fstab but rather in the GUI.
Hi folks,
I have successfully managed to install OMV 3.0.89 on a WD MyCloud Gen2 6TB NAS device. It all went smoothly, however, I am running into problems when creating shares. That's what I do:
- Click "Shared Folders" in the menu
- Click "Add"
- Try to select a device by clicking the little down arrow in the Device field
=> Nothing happens. I cannot select a device on which a shared folder could be generated. The Device field still says "Select a device..."
My idea was to check the available devices in File Systems. Two partitions are listed:
/dev/sda2,,ext4,5.41TiB,5.14TiB,57.94MiB,Yes,No,Online
/dev/sda3,,ext4,2.68GiB,1.36GiB,1.1 GiB, Yes,Yes, Online
Further, I tried unmounting the sda2 partition via GUI. When clicking the Unmount button, I get this error message:

That's how mount shows the devices:
