    Dear both,

Unfortunatly, I am not able to move forward.

The hd I would like to "/dev/sdb1" - I am able th access via SMB - so it works.

    Using ssh I tried

    cd /dev/sdb1

bash: cd: /dev/sdb1: Not a directory

    directory /mnt

is empty as well... Any ideas?

Regards & many thanks in advanced

    Dear all,

is it possbile to share the root of the HD?

Reason: I would like to rename a folder that is directly on the root level of a HD. It is not possible to rename folders at all via OMV (correct?).

Therefore, I would like to share the complete HD (not specifying any subfolder) and simply rename it...

Does this work? Any other ideas?

    Dear all,

I am using windows 10 and have mounted the shares permanently. Access works pretty fine. Spin-down is realized using hd-idle (since hdparm did not work).

My point/issue/challenge: It seem that the HDs are starting when I login to my windows 10 account (explorer is closed). I really would like to avoid this since this will reduce the live time of the hdd and is acutally not necessary...

    Any ideas?

    Dear all,

I just installed OMV 4.1.26 and attached one Segate HD and USB stick on a RP4 (4GB). I used the image offered via openmediavault.org - no changes / no additional applications installed. Everything works fine, except:

    HD Spindown is not working.

From my point of view no device (PC / MAC) should access the HD (since they are off).

    S.M.A.R.T is deactivated.

    HD Settings
Advanced Power Management: 1 - Minimaler Energieverbrauch mit Bereitschaft (Spindown)
    Spin down time: 10 minutes

openmediavault 4.1.26-1 all openmediavault - The open network attached storage solution
    openmediavault-flashmemory 4.2.1 all folder2ram plugin for OpenMediaVault
openmediavault-keyring 1.0 all GnuPG archive keys of the OpenMediaVault archive
openmediavault-netatalk 4.0.7-1 all OpenMediaVault netatalk (AppleTalk Protocol Suite) plugin
openmediavault-omvextrasorg 4.1.16 all OMV-Extras.org Package Repositories for OpenMediaVault

    trying hdparm directly:

    sudo hdparm -y /dev/sda
    /dev/sda:
    issuing standby command
    SG_IO: bad/missing sense data, sb[]: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0a 00 00 00 00 24 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

    $ sudo hdparm -Y /dev/sda
    /dev/sda:
    issuing sleep command
    SG_IO: bad/missing sense data, sb[]: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0a 00 00 00 00 24 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

On the other side I realized with the same HD + DSL Modem (Fritzbox) a NAS and spin down was supported (only the data rate was significant lower)... So, the HD actually supports "spin down".... (or: the SW of my DSL Modem is more advanced in the NAS area - which is actually surprising since it was design for a differen purpose).

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks in advance!!
