Short question concerning the HC2 and a Single WD Red... Would you go with EXT4 or BTRFS?

Please try it out and report back.
Everything went quite well. Before installing LUKS I started "apt install busybox".
Only issues I got from the install-log of LUKS:
cryptsetup: WARNING: failed to detect canonical device of /dev/mmcblk1p2
cryptsetup: WARNING: could not determine root device from /etc/fstab
W: mdadm: /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf defines no arrays. -
Would be great if you could then post armbianmonitor -u output.
Hi - can also check something... Just did a new install of my system and now waiting for the update. Nothing else done until now.
-
So you went to the GUI and selected all available packages and did an install?
After that a fresh reboot? -
Ok. I will wait - can I somehow check, if it does work? Or just wait and hope? Will the scenario be aborted, if I login via webinterface or any other way?
Can't sit the hole time close to the HC2 to doublecheck it
EDIT: green and red LED are permanently on. blue LED is doing heartbeat blinking.

Your screenshot shows kernel 4.9 and an uptime of 11 minutes. So your installation has no working Internet access since otherwise on first boot all packages (kernel included) would've been updated and you would be running kernel 4.14 already.
Are you sure, that this does work? Do have proper internet connection - but no update by itself...? Already waited 18 minutes - then I tried my first GUI Login - but still no update.
LAN Connection is 100% perfect.

Thx for your quick answers. Top support over here!
So best and easiest way is to simply install busybox via apt install busybox and that's it?

Just like @troublem4keR reported at the start of this thread. When updating an Armbian kernel package initramfs-cleanup will be called and here the error messages seems to originate (no idea why).
Just found out, that it could be because of the LUKS plugin?
Have a look at: https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=30552From my understanding: Cryptsetup needs Busybox as a recommended package. And you need Cryptsetup for LUKS (what I'm using).
Maybe @Adoby isn't using the plugin?

I'm totally with you. USB and an SSD would be totally ok for that scenario.
But I don't know if it's ok for my system-SD-Card at all - can I somehow find out how much the SD-card is/will be stressed?
And another question:
2 x USB-Disks at the 1 x USB-Port of the HC2 via Hub is also ok? Would be one SSD for the nextcloud-docker and one for a backup HDD. -
Why?
Your HC2 is overpowered for such tasks anyway and you can push the docker container storage to either your HDD or you attach an SSD in a JMS578 or ASM1153 enclosure to the USB port and run the stuff there. While everybody will be telling you that's just USB2 and too slow that's not true. Random IO performance is important and a SSD in an USB2 attached enclosure should easily outperform a HDD attached to USB3 (that's the HC2's 'SATA port', everything is USB here). It's not because of the OC2-Power overall... I thought, that it stresses the SD-Card from my HC2 too much? I'm a little bit afraid if the SD-Card will last long enough. Especially if I will run a Nextcloud-instance > or does the Docker (Nextcloud) read/write only to the storage I will attach?

Hi,
I'm new to OMV and had a bit of trouble while installing - but now it works quite well and I'm really convinced.
I'm using it with an Odroid HC2 with System on SD-Card and a WD Red 4TB.
Everything fine - and I will stay with this system as a backup-system.
My main-system should be a little big better/bigger system at all.
I want to use the main system as a OMV-NAS and with 1-2 running dockers (Nextcloud + one more).
That would stress my little Odroid HC2 with it's SD-Card too much. So what would be the advice to go one step bigger? Don't wanna waste too much power / energy.
Really looking forward for a few advices.
Thx Bud

...You format a crypt-mounted partion (e.g. /dev/mapper/partX) with a filesystem of your choice and let OMV mount that afterwards.Formatting the HDD gets you in an endless loop.
For me everything went well no endless loop. Or did I misunderstood you?
-
Maybe because of your LAN? Some restrictions, DHCP/IP-Range,...?
-
I assume graphs are shown, but the graphs do not show any data.
Activating and deactivating solved the issue. Before they recorded all the stuff (don't need it)! Maybe a bug like the other bugs with the green lamps for FTP/SMB/... > a enable/disable did also solve the issues. Now the graphs are shown - but without any content.

I checked a similar thread.
Turned monitoring on (was off) and after that I turned it off again.
Now it is showing all the stats.
Curiously it is showing the stats even if monitoring is turned off - or is it something different? -
And a short update: Must be something different. The statistics of my SD Card disk usage will be shown - it's only the LUKS encrypted device, which will not be shown.
-
Is this on the HC-2?
yes - on the HC2.
But every other statistics is turned on by default - it's the only one which is not turned on/not showing something.
So it's better to turn everything off?
EDIT: I mean the information under: DIAGNOSTICS > SYSTEM INFORMATION > PERFORMANCE STATISTICS

Hi,
I did activate LUKS for my Harddrive (Disk is unlocked and mounted), but within disk-stats it shows nothing
Is disk usage not compatible with encrypted volumes?
-
Just to doublecheck:
Is the following order correct?
1. Install LUKS Plugin
2. Restart OMV
3. Encrypt a HDD with a password/keyfile
4. UNLOCK the HDD
5. Format the unlocked HDD
6. Mount the unlocked HDDright? Or does it have to be formatted while locked?
-
Maybe because I started the manual update too fast after installing the system.
Just logged in and directly started to manually update via web GUI. Now after waiting a bit it has been ok so far.
First error occurs while installing the LUKS Plugin:
