The UPS plugin is a GUI for the Network UPS Tools project. You might check their documentation to see if there is a directive to support your need:

I'm scoping out all the new-to-me hardware for my first NAS hardware upgrade in about 9 years, and I came upon a fantastic deal on a 1TB M.2 SSD.
I am wondering if there are any issues I should be aware of if I want to use a PCIe v2.0 x16 slot with OMV for a storage drive? Is it really just as easy as SATA?
-
My experience with various *nix OSs is they always reset BIOS to UTC.
-
I had basically the same issue and the reason I opted for the adapter was so I can run any eSATA cable from the eSATA port to the adapter, then any SATA cable from the adapter to a SATA port. Plus, I didn't have to figure out how to get a cable from outside the case to inside the case.
-
I guess I was confused. I thought your eSATA port was on the outside of your case.
-
While I am not familiar with that specific device, generally, mounting and sharing USB devices isn't any different from other devices. As long as the USB device allows OMV to access each drive, you should be good to go.
-
Have you checked to see if the drive keeps a S.M.A.R.T. error log? Most do, but it is optional on the part of the manufacturer, not a requirement of the standard.
Have you tried changing the cable and SATA port used on the motherboard?
-
Ah, okay. I didn't realize the plugin was discontinued. That is a better explanation as to why it was not recommended.

The OP was asking about methods to move files across drives, which was slow because the user was doing it through a network share.
Given the description of the setup and problem, the user may not be aware of all options, and eXtplorer may resolve the simple issue of quicker file transfer without having to do much else to the server.
Not saying this is unquestionably the best solution, just that it is a way to easily resolve file transfer speeds.

Sourceforge/slashdot has been down for several days.
-
If you have the space in your case, you can get a simple bracket with built-in SATA-eSATA adapter, so no special cables required. This is the one I bought, and it works great:
-
Just wondering why nobody recommended using eXtplorer. Seems like a simple solution for someone not familiar with Linux and OMV.

By upgrade, I meant effectively a new installation. Some projects, when they go from development to release, will require users to fully install the release version. I've had this bite me before.
-
Also, pressing Tab during post may give you the screen with all that type of info.
-
Will "release" mean upgrade from test, or just a project status change?
-
I'm upgrading my hardware for the first time in about 9 years or so to Mini-ITX so I can put everything into a *much* smaller case.
I generally don't usually consider installing "test" level builds of projects, but in looking at the status of 4.x right now, it seems pretty stable?
I can see all of the plugins I use are marked as stable.
I'm assuming that the eventual move to "stable" will be seamlessly through regular update.
My use case is just personal NAS with no other duties and I change a setting not usually as frequently as once per year.
Should I install 4.x?

But after apt-get --reinstall install openmediavault I get: Welcome to nginx on Debian!
