Hi there,
when I select a rsnapshot job and press "Run" the popup window "Execute Backup Job" shows first "Please Wait" and stays then blank. In the rsnapshot log there is a corresponding log entry which shows the executed job without error.
Does someone has a hint how to bring back the content (rsnapshot status messages) in the blank window?
Thanks in advance,
topi

Hi there,
just an additional note, I found this forum thread which describes more or less the same issue in different OMV Erasmus versions: Session Timeout dosn't work -
Hi there,
I have OMV 3.0.94 and it shows the same issue, see The session timeout set to 0 does *not* disable automatic logout in general preferences .Do you have found meanwhile a for this issue?
Thanks,
topi -
thanks @Wolf2000 and @votdev for your hints.
I emptied the browser cache several times and I applied the settings change after pressing the save button. I even moved to a PC which has not had any contact to my OMV Erasmus system before. Unfortunately the issue remains. Meanwhile I could count the minutes after the OMV session in the web GUI times out: it is 5 minutes.
It seems to me that value <timeout>0</timeout> in the config.xml is not taken in account. However, you may have some more hints for me?
Thanks,
topi -
Thanks minixjr for sharing your solution. That made my day while dealing with my rsync jobs after upgrading from Stoneburner to Erasmus.

Hi there,
in the section "General Preferences" I set session timeout to 0 expecting the the automatic logut to be disabled. In/etc/openmediavault/config.xml I find this section:Code<!-- Web administration configuration - Do not add any configuration here --> <webadmin> <port>80</port> <enablessl>0</enablessl> <sslport>443</sslport> <forcesslonly>0</forcesslonly> <sslcertificateref></sslcertificateref> <timeout>0</timeout> </webadmin>
So it seems ok for me. However, after a few minutes (I did not count it) of inactivity I am getting logged out from the OMV GUI. After rebooting the OMV system the situation does not change.
Has someone a hint for me how to disable automatic logout?
Thanks in advance,
topi -
Yes tacioandrade I would opt for that functionality, too. However, it seems to be not that easy to accomplish and OMV seems to have tight developer ressources.

Hi ColdShoulderMedia,
using rsync to backup might be a way, too. Perhaps there are some more guides around in the forum? There I read, that some users rsync their data to a second NAS system via a schedule for rsync. However, perhaps rsnapshot plugin might be a way to go, too? -
Hi,
I found this blog post on USB Backup as a more general description. However, I would be interested in a guide, too. -
Hi flmaxey and monsen,
@ flmaxey: Thanks for the good explanations
@ monsen: yes, you are not alone with your thoughts on an easy and reliable way to upgrade without installing it from scratch and do the reconfiguration of all the shares, plugins etc. see: General Advice or FAQ on Upgrade OMV 2.x (Stoneburner) -->3.x (Erasmus) -
Hi there,
according to the OMV blog entry "Release of openmediavault 3 (Erasmus)" of Volker, the lead developer of OMV, the upgrade procedure is described in the section Updates to OMV of the OMVWiki . However the blog entry also stresses that "Because of various database issues in OMV2 that can not be fixed during the upgrade you might run into troubles after the system has been migrated. So please consider to reinstall your system with OMV3.". With respect to this a clean install of OMV 3 is recommended in various postings in this forum. So I feel a little bit lost and confused with two options for an upgrade of a productive OMV 2.x system. Within this context my questions are:- What is finally the recommended way to upgrade a trouble free and productive OMV 2.x installation to a trouble free and productive OMV 3.x installation, especially for the not that tech-savvy OMV user?
- If a clean installation of OMV 3.x is the recommended way to go, then what exactly does it mean starting from a productive and trouble free working OMV 2.x installation? How would I do a clean install of OMV 3.x ?
- Is there some sort of FAQ regarding the OMV 3.x upgrade planned?
Thanks in advance,

Hi there,
on Android try for example the Android App "Syncthing".
On iOS there is an app in the App Store called "fsync" which states to work as a Syncthing client.
General Info on Syncthing (how it works etc.) is here: https://docs.syncthing.net/users/faq.html
Hope this helps. -
Thanks ryecoaaron,
with the omv-extras plugin version 2.13.9 the issue is resolved and updates are working again -
Sorry ryecoaaron for bringing up the issue again. Meanwhile after updating successfully yesterday, I get today this Error/Warning message:
CodeErr https://debian.yeasoft.net wheezy/main amd64 Packages server certificate verification failed. CAfile: /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt CRLfile: none Ign https://debian.yeasoft.net wheezy/main Translation-en_US Ign https://debian.yeasoft.net wheezy/main Translation-en W: Failed to fetch https://debian.yeasoft.net/btsync14/dists/wheezy/main/binary-amd64/Packages server certificate verification failed. CAfile: /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt CRLfile: none E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Perhaps there is another hint for me to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance,

Thanks ryecoaaron.
I installed the new omv-extras plugin according to the omv-extras guide with an installation via command line as root. This worked fine and my OMV does receive updates again
-
Hi there,
since a few days I get this error out of the blue when I try to update my OMV installation:CodeW: Failed to fetch http://debian.yeasoft.net/btsync14/dists/wheezy/main/binary-amd64/Packages 302 Found E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
So I do not use BTsync but I use Syncthing form the OMV-extras plugin/repos.
Does someone have a hint for me to solve this update issue?
Thanks in advance,

Hi there,
Migrate Linux RAID 1+LVM System To Larger Disks HOWTO helped me a lot dealing with LVM growth etc. -
Hi bnhj2,
what results with issuing "pm-suspend" and/or "pm-hibernate" via shell ? -
But some question about syncthing:
- do I need to enter my DDNS or will it get the correct IP from an "outsourced server"?
- traffic is only about my machines?
- will it work well with VPN?
- How does versioning (i don't know the word in english?) work? For example if i delete something from a excelsheet, how can I recover it?
- Is it possible to recover a deleted file after sync?Hi Niemand,
regarding the concepts and defaults of versioning and recovering deleted files see https://docs.syncthing.net/users/versioning.html
