google works quite well.
Replacing the wortlab 'search' with another internet search machine, would obviously address this known deficiency.
Would that be an open issue, worth to resolve?

instead of pointing them to the Dell forum or to RTFM
Maybe you noted that I've only done that after many hours of no response by anyone, in order to give them at least an indication were help could come from. Most of them seem just not to see "the tree in the wood".
But I'll take your point onboard and wont respond when I don't have a "spoon to feed readily available".
Frankly lacking or disabled capabilities in Wortlab forum (ie move to new thread, is only available to mods) is one of the criticism I have.
You've now marked this thread resolved after adding your last post obviously some of us are just
did you see "@mods could this be move to new thread with title "forum software & usage" starting from #5?"?
Only the original question "Can't select text in "Installing updates" text window" was resolved, the other topic is still open.
Don't want to create a wrong impression therefore I've removed the 'resolved' for now
A gather and discuss approach suggests to me no more than discussing how and where OMV is used, how it could be improved and general chit chat about the software
@mods could this be move to new thread with title "forum software & usage" starting from #5?
Apologize that assumed limitation was certainly not my intent by using the words "gather and discuss".
The common denominator seems "problems they are having with OMV."
Therefore I suggested to people raising unrelated issues, to better look elsewhere. (examples: Windows license question and Dell hardware issue)
This allows this forum to stay focused and relevant for OMV, meaning its a good communications vehicle for OMV user base.
Good communication is technically expressed as having a good signal to noise ratio (SNR).
For example when listening to FM radio, when the noise ratio increases, you change to another station.
A signal for OMV forum is information related to OMV, noise is everything else.
MarcS would you mind to update the title to something like "RaspberryPi - linux kernel update" and set it to "resolved"?

“Forum” especially definition 1b, but I also like the concept of “marketplace” in 1a.
Internet forums like this differ from my view significantly from "public place of an ancient Roman city forming the center of judicial and public business"
I'd see OMV forum as a place were people with a specific interest (OMV) gather and discuss
podman-compose wasn't up to the docker-compose level.
correct, but is the difference relevant for OMV?
podman-compose will likely never be a 1:1 replacement due to a clear 'out -of scope' statement on https://github.com/containers/podman#out-of-scope.
Container orchestration via Docker Swarm will never be supported by podman.
The major cloud providers seem to have "standardized" on Kubernetes.
docker-compose
. We believe that Kubernetes is the defacto standard for composing Pods and for orchestrating containers, making Kubernetes YAML a defacto standard file format. Hence, Podman allows the creation and execution of Pods from a Kubernetes YAML file (see podman-play-kube). Podman can also generate Kubernetes YAML based on a container or Pod (see podman-generate-kube), which allows for an easy transition from a local development environment to a production Kubernetes cluster. If Kubernetes does not fit your requirements, there are other third-party tools that support the docker-compose format such as kompose and podman-compose that might be appropriate for your environment. This situation may change with the addition of the REST API.stable in the Red Hat world doesn't mean it is even close to ready in the Debian world.
fair point
5-10% enhancement (subjectively)
I'm an analytic person hence need to see proof for claims made before I jump on recommendations.
its easy to get objective measurements (see here)
running a Raspberry Pi4 with 6x HDs via USB3
Could you provide more hardware details how this is setup?
podman doesn't make it easy enough. That said, I might add the cockpit podman plugin once it is ready
note sure to understand this part.
1) As I understand it, podman is a 1:1 command replacement to docker cli (in scripts replace "docker" with "podman" or set an alias and thats it)
2) re "when it's ready", what is missing?
Hi, please insert screenshots and output of commands directly in posting (as code). Most of us will not click on unclear external links for security reasons!
maybe this is the same/similar to https://github.com/openmediavault/openmediavault/issues/871 ?
biofx could you please make sure the latest OS updates have been installed and then report the versions for:
- OS version: [uname -a]
- openmediavault version: [dpkg -l | grep openmediavault]
due to flashmemory plugin the log file are not written to USB pendrive at time of crash.
for seeing the complete log, de-activating the flashmemory plugin is required.
Note: after test is complete re-activating it is mandatory to prevent SDcard/USB pendrive wear out, causing them to fail permanently!
crashtest ryecoaaron perhaps any other suggestions?
ryecoaaron did you see "Note: many people user "docker" as a synonym for "container". My prediction is not applying to containers!"?
ryecoaaron perhaps you remember my prediction that docker will become irrelevant?
"Cockpit is a Red Hat sponsored free software project" and many Red Hat's employees are active in open source projects. They will drive this change forward, this is just the first occurrence of the strategy.
Note: many people user "docker" as a synonym for "container". My prediction is not applying to containers!
