Totally agree, I had Define R4 for PC 10 years ago, and now when looking for a new case (previously for NAS I used fractal Node 304, also a good case but very tight and each time when you need to do something it is a pain and supports only 6x3.5") I realized nothing on market and found very cheap used R5 only without screws 😀

I have two 18TB drives - BTRFS mirror, it worked for weeks and only today I found this state

When I press "edit" I see this:

But I can see files inside and I can execute two commands:

I have my own schedules job for BTRFS scrub, that job runs each month. July 1st was run, and today I got letter that scrub again passed.

Where is this hidden job? I don`t see such job in my schedule menu.

Like software developer, I suppose they fix and improve their library, in that reason probably would be great to use latest one.

And if debian uses latest stable version its weird that it was released 14 months ago and I don`t see that btrfs-progs-6.3 (2023-04-27) is unstable.

Anyway, I updated my scripts for create snapshots, scrub and getting latest status of BTRFS to use the latest version, as I mentioned in first post "/path/btrfs.static"

OMV has btrfs-progs v5.16.2 which was released more than 1 year ago, already released version 6.3 https://btrfs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/CHANGES.html

How can I upgrade version? Is it safe to upgarde?

How I just decided that easiest way - download from here https://github.com/kdave/btrfs-progs/releases/tag/v6.3 btrfs.static

And execute each my btrfs command by changing btrfs -> /path/btrfs.static

Can someone explain why it`s point (optional)? Maybe I`m wrong, but testing repo is unstable and will download totally different version of plugins, for example snapraid plugin will have option for array name and when I googled it I found one thread on this forum with question from one of our moderator "why do you use testing version of plugin?"

Or now testing and non-testing version are pretty stable and it`s recommended to use testing option?

I extended this script to create snapshot before scrub and then if scrub was with error - restore from snapshot, but then decided that I don`t need it.

On this 18TB drive I have only static data, backup, which sync each day with my main data pool from 2 x 14TB (mergeFS).

Decided that I don`t need overengineering it.

I want to try BTRFS, already familiar with ZFS and we have a pretty good thread : [HOWTO] Instal ZFS-Plugin & use ZFS on OMV

Do we have something similar for btrfs, for example do we need to create subvolume or some bunch of helpful commands?

I just created btrfs fs and mounted it from GUI and thinking what is next, should I create shared folder with in root of disk or I have to do some additional actions first, for example compress=zstd

I have two 1 TB nvme`s and I prefer ext4 for them, really fast and simple. Also can be mounted in systemrescue system or in other system.

Yes, skipping fsck helped me.
