    hello

i have somes parts here : an r510 dell server two quad core xeons 2.4ghz. (i can put in it 16 , 32 , or 48gb on ram what amount is the best for my use ) and two extension rack .

3 units , twelves drives in each .

    total : 36 sas drives , 4TO each , using a perc 700 raid hardware controller .

i will build somes luns in raid 5 , using the hardware raid .

what amount of memory sholud i use ?

    i m thinking than 8 core .... will be "useless" .... agreed ? (for the disks ! )

for the omv distro , i ve two internal 2.5 slots aviaible ... mechanical , or ssd , what is the difference , except the boot time ?

(i m thinking than the cpu willbe usefull , with the two 10gbe ethernet port ... )

    any help is welcome !

    hi ,

ive take a look , more seriously to docker .

a BIG problem for me , it s only offering "herited" virtualisation from main os ....

and i would like , to put linux on my hardware , bet have somes win10/7 (bwerk ) environnements , and linux ( in many distros )

yep , i know very well the solaris zones (named containers in france ! ) , i was "rent" as an expert (lol ) by solaris company ...

and i ve consolidated many physical hardware , in zones , .... and in manual cluster (like zoneadm detach , zoneadm attach ... , ...... (not the solaris cluster , i m certified too on it ) , and capping the hardware ...

that was a funny period !

then if you say dockers is very similar , i MUST look again (maybe , i can use my quad xeon 40 core for it ! lol )
