I have no problem with the rsync or rsnapshot part. Can you suggest some description how I can invoke by the click of a UI button a shell script that does the backup?

I have searched a little bit, but I couldn't find some documentation, tutorials or minimal examples that would allow newbies to create a new OMV plugin.

Is such an introduction available? Or is studying the sources the only way of getting into plugin development?

Hello,

I am pretty new to openmediavault. Maybe what I am asking for is already implemented in many of the backup plugins, but I don't know how to use them.

I am looking for a backup solution that

1) Is started either when I plugin an external USB disk or manually by clicking a button, but NOT in regular intervals.

2) Stores incremental backups by date such that each backup appears as a complete backup although only incremental changes are stored (such as done by rsnapshot).

Does such a backup solution exist?
