Ok, so at least we know it's not ZFS's fault.
Are you 100% sure that you've wiped these drives correctly? That means wiping the data, filesystems & partitions as well?
Using "WIPE" option in "Storage > Disks" section would do just that, but there's always a chance that you did it by hand and something is still residing on these drives.
