Thanks, yes it did seem like playing around with dhcp6 process was the key, however I wasn't using NAT, my network was bridged, and I still couldn't get it to do what I wanted because although it did advance, it still hadn't got an IP address, so it went back round the loop.
Tonight I managed to install FreeNAS without a hitch, so I'll probably just go with that.
I've successfully installed OMV v4 on Proxmox, however when I try the latest 5.5.11 I'm getting nowhere.
It seems that after getting DHCP address for ipv6 (before it asks for the host name) it just hangs, all I get is the blank blue screen with grey bar at the bottom . I've tried various different VM hardware configs, but nothing seems to get me past this point.
When I install the ISO in VirtualBox it appears to work fine.

Is there some way I can get more logging so I can diagnose the problem? I'm amazed that nobody else is seeing this, I don't think there's anything non-standard about my Proxmox setup but I haven't found anything from a few searches.
