seems I have tons of package to upgrade through omv-upgrade... will do that.

Hi
I did the OMV 5 to 6 upgrade but it is still using a 4.x kernel, is it normal?
I thought Debian 11 was with 5.X kernel
Code
Alles anzeigen$ cat /etc/os-release PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye)" NAME="Debian GNU/Linux" VERSION_ID="11" VERSION="11 (bullseye)" VERSION_CODENAME=bullseye ID=debian HOME_URL="https://www.debian.org/" SUPPORT_URL="https://www.debian.org/support" BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.debian.org/" $ uname -r 4.19.0-21-amd64

Probably an other miss??
Code$ dpkg -l | grep -Ew "gdm3|sddm|lxdm|xdm|lightdm|slim|wdm" rc gdm3 3.30.2-3 amd64 GNOME Display Manager $ sudo apt remove gdm3 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package 'gdm3' is not installed, so not removed
and the following is giving no output:
EDIT:
Was only conf file, the following did the trick:

The script doesn't do any magically desktop detection. If any of the following packages are installed, it will give you that message. You evidently aren't starting with a minimal image though.
gdm3|sddm|lxdm|xdm|lightdm|slim|wdm
My first install was with DE but I then removed every package....
Now I run the upgrade script and got the error message, but if I check manually it sounds good:
What do I miss?

I thought it was tunneling everything through port 80 or something, in order to not need any setup on local network.

Hi,
I wonder what's the technology inside commercial NAS to give access to NAS data from outside the local lan flawlessly. I would like to replicate it in some way.
When I bought a WD My CLoud Nas, I just plug it in my LAN with access to internet and I can access my data from the WD web and apps from anywhere outside without doing anything on my router, no port forwarding, no VPN etc
At my home, I have no problem to setup port forward, VPN etc... But I would like to create a new OMV NAS system (for backuping) in a remote location (parents' house) where I have no access to router etc. So I would like to setup the same solution that is using commercial NAS in order to access my data remotely without anything to setup at my parents network: plug and play.
thanks for the hints

Hi
As soon as my server is bit loaded in terms of CPU, I receive a lot of email alert from Monit like the following:
Monitoring restart -- Connection failed nginx
I filter them out in my gmail account, but it doesn't make sense to send tons of email like this so I would like to remove it at source.
I unselect all notification items, and I continue to receive emails.
If I deactivate completely notification, it works but then I have no more any email for other purposes which is not what I would like.
What could be the solution? It seems we cannot modify monit config with an editor as omv will erase it...

I can only state that upgrading from a 5.6.22-1 version worked for me but not from 5.6.23-1.
I uninstalled all packages related to desktop before but it never worked when going from 5.6.23-1.
Altough there was no error i could relate to this pull request here, it still might be.
If you need some CLI logs of these upgrade tries i can propbably dig them out.
Can you list the package that you installed from 5.6.22 before to upgrade to 6.x version?

if you do not have a desktop environment, you can just upgrade once OMV6 is ready
I have one (standard Debian 9 install) but I don't use it...but seems it is not feasible to remove the desktop environment from Debian 9, then update to 10 then update to OM6 isn't it?

I have a Debian 9 install on which I have installed OMV 5. Works well.
I thought to move to OMV 6 / Debian 10 but reading the things above, it will not work.
So I could move to a OMV6 without Debian but it would mean to do a fresh install... Is there a script of something to keep all settings (+ all dockers running...) in order to apply them back once OMV6 is installed?

Hi
I put in samba share to delete recycled files after 30 days and I know realize that it never happens... I have files from 6 months ago!
-
Is there any plan to port it?

The end:
Code
Alles anzeigenProcessing triggers for openmediavault (5.6.7-1) ... >>> *************** Error *************** Invalid RPC response. Please check the syslog for more information. <<< ************************************* Restarting engine daemon ... Updating locale files ... Updating file permissions ... Purging internal cache ... And now it proposes me to update to 5.6.8-1

Hi
I have seen some packages to be updated and decided to update all from OMV interface.
I got the following error:
CodeUnpacking openmediavault (5.6.7-1) over (5.6.5-1) ... >>> *************** Error ***************
With many lines with "error" and also:
But at the end, I got:
CodeSetting up openmediavault (5.6.7-1) ... Creating configuration database ... Migrating configuration database ... Setting up Salt environment ...
Very slow, still waiting to finish...

I think I have the same problem (access to the OMV server throught openvpn ok, but no access to other machines on the lan... my omv server beeing 192.168.0.57, my router 192.168.0.1). Can you elaborate more on your solution?

Hi,
Is there a way to switch from Ethernet to WiFi (and the opposite) directly from OMV interface?
I have added both network, but now I don't know what to do
thanks

You need to use a uid && gid of a user that can run docker unpriviledge.
Add the user you want to use to the "docker group" via OMV gui.
Then, on a terminal run id <username> and take notice of the uid and gid of that user
Create a folder, via terminal with that user mkdir -p /home/<username>/<foldername>
Then install it, changing the references for UID, GID and the ONEDRIVE_DATA_DIR where applicable, with the values that you have from above.
Thanks for the hint... indeed the problem is probably more at the folder side... will give this a try

You can specify the user:group the container runs as when you run it. Did you read the documentation in the link you provided?
Reading yes, understanding may-be not!
