Hi all! Please help a beginner with the backup issue.
1) First question. My scheduled tasks include rebooting the NAS once a week. Sometimes after a reboot the drive letters change for some reason. In the backup plugin using the dd full disk method. I must specify the root disk that needs to be backed up. How will this backup be performed on a schedule if after the next reboot of the NAS the drive letters themselves change? I cannot specify the UUID of the disk, because the system disk has three partitions and each partition has its own UUID. I currently have /dev/sda
2) Second question. After backing up using the full disk method, eight files appeared in my destination folder.
/omvbackup/backup-omv-2024-04-29_00-38-08.ddfull.zst
/omvbackup/backup-omv-2024-04-29_00-38-08.sfdisk
/omvbackup/backup-omv-2024-04-29_00-38-08.grubparts
/omvbackup/backup-omv-2024-04-29_00-38-08.grub
/omvbackup/backup-omv-2024-04-29_00-38-08.espdd.zst
/omvbackup/backup-omv-2024-04-29_00-38-08.packages
/omvbackup/backup-omv-2024-04-29_00-38-08.fdisk
/omvbackup/backup-omv-2024-04-29_00-38-08.blkid
In the future, after a possible breakdown, I will boot from a live USB. Which command should be correct and which file should I specify as the recovery source?
Thank you all in advance for your help!
Thank you very much BernH for the clear explanation
Thank you very much for the specific answers, literally point by point. BUT, I'm trying to use the dd plugin to clone the entire system disk to another identical disk. If the main disk breaks, then simply change the boot disk in the BIOS and the device works again. Sorry, but I'm not an expert on this topic. Alternatively, can install OMV on raid 1. But not every hardware has two NVME slots. Otherwise, you need to reinstall openmediavault. How to remember all settings? Should I backup /etc/openmediavault/config.xml? What if docker containers are installed using Yacht? However, the compose plugin backup does not work.
I can't find any documentation for the disk cloning plugin. I ask this question because everywhere they write that it is not good to clone with the dd command from a working system disk. They write that the databases may be damaged and so on. From my point of view, the plugin for cloning the entire system disk is very necessary, since it solves the problem of a system backup. FSarchiver is complex. All other backup methods save only shared folders. Why make backups of shared folders if it’s easier to place all shared folders on RAID (mdadm or snapraid). Maybe you should stop all containers with a command, and then use the system disk cloning plugin? PLEASE explain how to work with this plugin correctly.
Hello!
Why, after successfully cloning a disk and clicking the close button, does the system write: Do I want to discard the changes? However, there is no window for saving changes.
Thanks for the help!
I have enabled and disabled secret boot. And the most interesting thing. Only Windows boots normally after installation. All Linux-based distributions behave the same way, as I wrote above.
I can't boot omv 6.5 on new PC after fresh install. Motherboard with Intel n5095 . BIOS AMI Aptio 2.22.1.1278 only UEFI. I make default settings. During initial boot, a cyclic reboot occurs. Watch the video at the link. https://disk.yandex.ru/i/XANjG1-RoiyDDQ
Browser does not allow connect to a working docker container on the local network after some update OMV 6.0. I did not notice this problem because the connection with containers is still configured through the zerotier mesh network. Containers work fine. Through the Zerotier network, the connection is without problems. Accidentally tried to connect to the container using the IP address of the local network. Only with openmediavault the connection is working fine. There is no connection with all other containers. Please help me solve the problem!
Hello,
I did everything according to draddy's instructions
[How-To] onlyoffice in nextcloud docker
At step 5 following Draddy's instructions, an error appears
cURL error 49: Couldn't parse CURLOPT_RESOLVE entry '100.89.217.108:80:'! (see https://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html) for https://100.89.217.108:4433/healthcheck)
I am not using swag. Connection only in VPN network.
If I go https://100.89.217.108:4433/healthcheck - > true
Dear experts! Help me please. I'm a beginner. Installed via your forum nextcloud + mariadb + redis + onlyoffice. I used docker-compose. Stack installed four containers. But there are mistakes that I don't know how to fix.
Here is a link to my stack. https://www.toptal.com/developers/hastebin/ibafaquruk.rb
Installation 1.
Container - linuxserver/nextcloud:22.2.3
PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function getLogger() on null in /config/www/nextcloud/cron.php:163

I removed all four containers
Installation 2. On Portainer web-editor docker-compose file the same.
