I have been working for two weeks trying to setup a simple OMV5 on ESXi server. In a nutshell I have pretty much everything setup and working. I have two shared folders: PUBLIC and PRIVATE. Everyone can see and read/write in the PUBLIC folder, no issue (although I had initial issues trying to get my Windows 2016 server to write to it) So the issue is, everyone can see, read and write to the PUBLIC share. Everyone can see, read and write to the PRIVATE share, except my Windows 2016 server, which is the primary reason for having this private share.
Ideally, I would like everyone to access the public folder, no issue there. However I would like the "PRIVATE" folder to be accessible and have only a single user (or group) be able to write to it. I have read probably over a hundred articles on here, google lookups, you name it. I have tried just about every suggestion I found on this forum. Still everyone has full access to everything, except the one machine that absolutely needs it - alone! Now I am a "windows guy" and perhaps I do not understand all the linux/samba permissions, so I am desperate and begging for some assistance here.
Anyone?
