tekkbebe,
today out of despair more than anything else I enabled root and anonymous access ... no other changes
if i log into the ftp from filezilla with username "anonymous" I can see the subdirectories ... but not as my real user..
does that help diagnose the problem any further?
hi, ok, i added the passive setup and it made no difference at all ...
edit : sorry, wrong thread!
that will be perfect ... thank you...
ps. i added the passive setup and it made no difference at all ...
so I set it up using your guide, but did not do a passive setup so left that part out.
Not sure why in your it lists /public and in mine it's just /
Still empty directory in FileZilla but if I ssh to var/proftd I can see the share mounted in there with 722 permissions.

Good morning,
I have setup my ftp server as follows:-
- created a new shared folder
- created an FTP user
- granted rw rights to the new user (using ACL)
- changed user shell to bash
- enabled ftp service
- added shared folder to ftp shares list
- saved config
now, I am able to log into the ftp server using a windows client (smartftp), however, the client dumps me at the Root folder with no visible sub directories.
how do i either get to my FTP enabled folder (in this instance called "sites") or make it so that the ftp user defaults to the sites folder?
what am i missing?
thanks
Dan
thank you that resolved this issue...
Zitat von "WastlJ"And a new one here...
http://forums.openmediavault.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4884
to add some clarity to that cross post, this was on a clean install.
I installed the current stable version (on a clean system with complete format of system disk).
then immediately updated via ssh using the upgrade command.
no plugins installed yet at all

good morning,
apologies for the long log post! ... i upgraded to .6 from a complete clean install of .5.
the upgrade baulked a few times causing me to reinstall openmedia vault from the CLI.
now in syslog i get the below regularly.
any ideas ?
thanks

not sure what to do now as the FTP service is pretty important!
thanks

Hi all,
I am setting up my ftp service in v.6 of OMV.
when i set up the service settings everything is fine, as soon as i add a shared folder and press apply i get the following message.

Hi,
I am a windows convert so please hang tight and dont flame me!
I have OMV running fine (v.6) and am now comfortable with the basic setups for things like nginx, plex etc using both the UI and SSH
I have never looked at FTP until today (wordpress requirement!)
so I have the service enabled on port 21 and configured as defaults.
how do i go about setting up user accounts and assigning permissions.
I am assuming that i create users in the usual manner, but, where do I tell OMV that a given user can access FTP?
thanks
D
Zitat von "ryecoaaron"Uninstall the plugin and just install the wordpress plugin. Does that work?
can the wordpress plugin run on a different port or does it work on a subdirectory of the default root ?
