I did set the critical temperature at 45 degrees, I left the informal at 0 degrees and the difference at 0 (if 0 then it means this is disabled)

Not sure I did it right but I left these settings for now and I will check the log file for the next few days to see how it is reporting...

    Thank you

Can you please share your knowledge based on your experience? What the value numbers should I set for Difference, Informal and Critical?
I never use S.M.A.R.T so I am looking forward for your respond.

    Thank you

I have an Openmediavault server with 3 drives installed and they are setup as
    /dev/sda - Hitachi HDS72103 - temperature 29 Celsius
    /dev/sdb - ST4000DM000-1F21 - temperature 30 Celsius
    /dev/sdc - ST4000DM000-1F21 - temperature 30 Celsius

    I enabled Storage > S.M.A.R.T
    General Settings
    Check interval: 1800
    Power Mode: Never

    Temperature Monitoring
    Difference: 0
    Informal: 0
    Critical: 0

Question 1: what the value numbers should I set for Difference, Informal and Critical? What is your recommendation according to your experience?
Question 2: Is it recommended to use S.M.A.R.T at all?

    Thank you a lot

    To flmaxey,

I had to enable Rsync server service and I see informations in the Rsync log when I run Rsync Job under Services : Rsync.
So I enabled Rsync server service on both Openmediavault servers and it seems is working on both now.

    Thank you flmaxey

    To flmaxey,

I did and this log is empty. Also when I did set up the Rsync job, I DID NOT select Suppress non-error messages option.
I have to 2 Openmediavault server and I have the same problem on both? I don't know why?

    Any idea what is wrong?

    Thank you

I have an OMV ver.2.2.14 server and in the Webgui under Service : Rsync

I created Rsync jobs exp. Folder1 Folder2 and Folder3 jobs where rsync job for the Folder1 is set to run backup every Friday after 1 a.m.
for the Folder2 is set to run backup every Saturday after 1 p.m. and for the Folder3 is set to run backup every Sunday after 1 p.m.

I would like to view the logs files for these rsync jobs I created... I would like to periodically check if backup jobs been completed etc.

Can you let me know if there is a way to do so? If yes, how can I do it so I could view logs files for these services I setup?

    Thank you,

    I run command:
    wget http://omv-extras.org/omvextras.deb - sucessful
    and then dpkg -i omvextras.deb - OK
also tried to run apt-get -f install but it said 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
for testing purpose for a piece of mind I run also this command: apt-get update BUT this time NO Error with signature.

So it looks it is working now.

Thank you ryecoaaron, your help is appreciated!

I had OMV 2.2.6 and failing updates.

From reading from this forum I tried the following:

Run Putty.exe and tried command apt-get update
However I got error: A error occurred during the signature verification. Repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: http://packages.omv-extras.org stoneburner Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the available: NO_PUBKEY 7AA630A1EDEE7D73public key is not

    Run twice this command: gpg --recv-keys 7AA630A1EDEE7D73 && gpg --export 7AA630A1EDEE7D73 |apt-key add -
Requesting Key EDEE7D73 from hkp server keys.gnupg.net however the keyserver receive failed: keyserver error

    Run command: apt-get upgrade
The following packages will be upgraded:
    libcurl3-gnutls ; libicu48 ; linux-image-3.2.0-4-amd64 ; openmediavualt (2.2.7) ; php5-cgi (5.4.45-0+deb7u5) ; php5-cli (5.4.45-0+deb7u5) ; php5-common (5.4.45-0+deb7u5) ; php5-fpm (5.4.45-0+deb7u5)
And now I have version OpenMediaVault: 2.2.7 (Stone burner)

Run command: apt-get update to check the signature is fixed but Failed to fetch http://packages.omve-extras.or…dists/stoneburner/Release and Some index files failed to download. The has been ingored, or old ones used instead.

I found this issue on the forum is related with omv-extras and found recommendation to update the signing key due to weakness
Run command: apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv EDEE7D73
    But result here:
gpg: requesting key EDEE7D73 from hkp server keyserver.ubunutu.com
    gpg: Keyserver timed out
gpg: keyserver receive failed: keyserver error

It looks this signature is still not working but I am on OMV 2.2.7 version now

Any idea how to fix my update?

    Thank you

I would like to thank you for getting involve and to try to help me here so I could learn/understand better things to solve the problem.
I am very grateful for this forum so I could share with all of you and ask you for your opinions, suggestions etc...
This is great guys and thank you again!

Zoki; this happen randomly not constantly 4 Months but periodically since March. I shouldn't say the server worked fine until March 4th.
Next time I will be more careful what I say on the forum because someone may missunderstood/give a wrong judgement.
We had a so much going here + this problem to figure it out.

    Thank you

    To Zoki,

I am not sure what you mean by mailq source code on the omv server? Where I should find this?

    I think you mean /etc/cron.daily/openmediavault-flash-mailq?

If yes, then here it is code from this file I have from this OMV server.

    set -e

    . /etc/default/openmediavault
    . /usr/share/openmediavault/scripts/helper-functions

    if [ "$(omv_config_get "//system/email/enable")" = "0" ]; then
    postsuper -d ALL
    fi

I got log files from the OMV and here it is partial mail log information. I can't share this file because it is too big. Some mail.log files are over 1GB when unzipped and I cannot open them. Should they not be smaller files in size so we can look and read them for troubleshooting purposes?

    AND SO ON WITHOUT END!

This prove the server sent spam emails... I think this server, it suppose or should stop (quit after a few try) send them if cannot reach recipient but it tried to send from mediavault-2@xxx.xx.xx to mediavault-2@xxx.xx.xx without stoping...

This OMV server we setup this Email Notification to send email externally. I believe there is a bug there?

    Any thoughts?

We don't have content of the emails from the OMV system... I am hoping to find the log files from the OMV system which it will tell me more.

However there is another evidence from other log file from the GWAVA server, emails from the OMV were sent in the loop but not content of the emails either from this log file.

I share again a partial/fragment information from one of the log file.

We had to disabled Email Notifications all together and remove all settings from there to prevent it this happen also Systems Administrator blocked all incoming traffic from openmediavault server to prevent receiving a million email and crashing our GWAVA server. We can not allow this happen again because it cause a huge problem for our non-profit organization.

Agree, notifications are not sent without sense. But somehow it happen but not sure what and how yet.

Here it is what I know so far I got log file from our GWAVA server. I am not allowed to post this file but I can share partial/fragment information from one of the many log files. Just this log file is about 102MB in size I copied info from and we have hundreds of these files.
Please note I had to rename our email address to mediavault-2@xxxx.xx.xx (fake) as well our real public ip address to an unreal (fake) ip address 98.153.25.245.

We have open case with GWAVA company and it is under GWAVA investigation.

I have to check log files on the openmediavault server to see if I can find any evidence there. I need to figure it out how to check them :) So help appreciated here.

    Thank you,

On January 22nd 2016 I setup OpenMediaVault and running version 2.2.5 right now and one of the feature I enabled was Email notification. It worked fine until March 4th and lately now when we were getting a lot of email every second coming through GWAVA which is unified messaging archiving, security & disaster recovery for Email. Where we noticed we received an every second email coming from OpenMediaVault. So it looks like this server acts like sending spams to where not sure but at the end it crashing our GWAVA server. Do you know where can I find log files about sending email from OpenMediaVault?

    Thank you,

I have tested today and it works for me great!

    this is the command I need for my needs: find /media/yourstorage/CLPvideo -mtime +60 -type f -exec mv '{}' /media/yourstorage/CLPvideo_old \;

This shell command move any files which are 60 days old and older from /media/yourstorage/CLPvideo to /media/yourstorage/CLPvideo_old

I thought to share with you.

    Thanks for your help

Thank you for the link but also it shows to me to use Google search as well as how lazy I am to use a search engine???
Sorry, probably I didn't provide enough information when I asked for the command about to move files. Believe it or not Mr. davidh2k I do use Google search on regular basis every day. I would like to thank you for people like you who willing share information and willing help other like me to understand Linux better, I feel novice in Linux, because of this Forum I am able to understand better, discover new possibilities and I am able to manage OpenMediaVault product. Thank you again!

I found commands to move files but I am not sure which one is correct one for my need.
I could test it to figure it out... but I thought to ask on this Forum first and I am hoping I will get answer.

Here it is my extended question:

    Should I use this one? find /media/yourstorage/CLPvideo -mtime +60 -type f -mv '{}' /media/yourstorage/CLPvideo_old

or should I use this one? find /media/yourstorage/CLPvideo -mtime +60 -type f -exec mv '{}' /media/yourstorage/CLPvideo_old

I don't understand what -exec means? Even I did search for it but it is not clear to me...
