Any ideas on the subject, worked fine previously. Now after doing my snapraid fix I'm getting you need permission, I was able to copy the file in MC thorugh putty, but not in windows. just keeps saying you need permission and then it has try again.

What creation policy was used when creating that pool?
What CPU hardware is being used and are the drives SATA or USB connected?
Something is wrong if it takes 15 to 20 minutes to move a typical movie file of 2 to 3GB, even if it was a drive to drive move (which is a copy then delete.)
Above my paygrade on the creation policy. I went to merger FS and like my wife would say, went click click and it was created. CPU currently is a 6th gen G4400 which is a celeron I believe. The drives are sata connected, but their is one usb 3 external sata that I'm still using.

moving from one directory to the other is correct and I just checked, they are both mergerfs directories, the Qbitorrent directory and the movies directory. My mistake. So it will finish, it will move from qbittorent to movies. I am watching a movie out of movies and the movie will stop and start again until the moving process is over.

The copying is on the merger FS share . its copying from a folder on one of the drives that make up the merger fs share to the merger fs share shared folder so all just local drives. When it is doing this, the stream coming to the 4K box buffers. Not going anywhere else.

I need a newer CPU to do transcoding, but another issue I have is when qbitorrent finishes downloading and is copying the movie from its directory to the mergerfs share, the movie streaming to my settop box gets glitchy and starts buffering. Same thing happens when snapraid is running. Currently have a 6th gen celeron. I will get a 12th or 13th gen cpu most likely, but if I'm basically getting it for the gpu and the file copying issue will remain I don't need to go I5 and can potentially just go I3.

Thanks, so I removed it from snapraid and then was able to remove the missing file system which in turn let me mount the new drive.

Yes I am comfortable editing the file if I know what to edit. Alternatively I can do the permissions thing but i went into it and I’m not sure what to do as it listed a lot of things but as far as I know that drive was only in merger fs and snapraid. Further if I fix the missing, will it allow me to mount the new drive?

I went to OMV 7 and I read that 6.1 kernel does not work with intel GPU hardware transcoding, how do I update the kernel. I see options to install proxmox kernels that are higher, is that what I'm supposed to do or how do I get to 6.5 or whatever version?
-
also, if I swap the motherboard and cpu, can I just plug in the boot drive and go or how do I do it without losing everything?

Al you can do is attempt a recovery. Follow carefully the directions in the snapraid manual at snapraid.it section 4.4.
Yes, the question was more of, will it work if its been a bit of time, does snapraid see the drive is dead and then run and just kind of get rid of the information that was on that drive if you don't catch it immediately?
Also, can I update to OMV 7 and still do the snapraid recovery? I would assume yes, but before I hit the button....

I had a drive die. Not completely sure when it died, but now it is dead. I have a new drive coming tomorrow. Will I be able to restore stuff to that drive with snapraid? I turned off the nightly run of snapraid for now, but have no idea if it ran when the drive was dead or not.

So like these two and I’m good to go? These use normal power supply I already have? Does this n100 have enough power for everything? Streaming 4k movies to zidoo box, running jelly fin/plex. , swag etc, current 6th gen processor is unwatchable when copying things on disc or snap raid is running.
