I'm still very new to this omv/docker/trashguides/hotio media server. I thought this may be the best place to start with my problem. I loaded a large container based upon the example in OMV Docker Guides using the hotio images. All of the container are working I get the following issue when I try to import my saved tv series, which is being loaded on my data drive as I type this. Here is the message I get: Unable to add root folder
Folder is not writable by user hotio. Any help would be appreciated. I also cannot get the root folder to set. I know this is a permissions issue. A video guide says to change the permission by way of the executive consule in portainer in sonarr and use chmod -R -v 777 /tv. Can I do this with the new setup?

Fixed up. thank you.
This document edit was a bit rushed, I hope to have time this weekend to go through all the details. I think there are no procedural errors, maybe some more like this.
Woohoo got through the guide and have a working jellyfin. Thanks to you!

chente--quick edit change-- step 4 change system compose settings to services compose settings.
-
Is this better understood?
Once the route has been entered, press the lower Save button.
Otherwise, the changes will not be saved and docker will continue to be installed in the default path /var/lib/docker, that is, on the system disk, which is what we want to avoid.
Don't worry, I wish all problems were like this.

Yes, I think new wording is better for the reader's understanding.

Thanks
Keep in mind that this document has been updated a few days ago, if you have a version copied from another place it may be out of date. It is also possible that your browser does not show the latest changes, the same thing has happened to me on some occasion while I was editing it. Clear the browser cache.
Thanks, I see the new version has an added task. I think what happened is I started with the old guide and when you changed the screenshot in step four I updated the guide but did not go back to step one because I was already on step four. Thanks for your patience.

The warnings about not installing the plugin before have disappeared from the docs, if I forgot to remove it somewhere tell me where please.
This is part of Step 4:
-
Post the output inside a codebox of
dpkg -l | grep openm
docker info | grep Root
I have no idea what you just posted.
. I'm very new at this. -
The link you just provided shows the same screenshot as in my post.

I took a few days off from trying to install and follow the Docker in OMVguide.
Back to step four of the installation guide after i updated the system this is what my screen shows. There is no compse as shown in the guide:
The guide shows the following screenshot:
I apparently am missing doing a step or two. I am hesitant to try to install the docker repo or the plugin because the guide warns against doing that step because it will install in the wrong place. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

I was kind of thinking like something that Trash guide wrote up.

What do you require for an example? Just going to linuxserver.io and grabbing the docker-compose file and sending it to you? If so, I don't mind making a start on that. Or you've got a template on what you require please post url so I can look at it.
Just a thought as a new user, if there is no writing guide, it would be nice to base any examples on the guide in the wiki that uses jellyfin. In other words follow the naming conventions used in the example and locations, etc. It may bring down the learning curve to just get something working correctly the first time. Thanks.

I think the updated screenshot is the help I needed.

Sorry but how do I set the drive where docker is supposed to be loaded to if I can't see it? The wiki guide says it will not go to the correct place if it is not set there.
-
It is showing the docker, portainer, yacht version. The instructions do not work at that point. Thanks!

The "previous" guide still exists. It's here and it's already updated. https://wiki.omv-extras.org/doku.php?id=omv6:docker_in_omv
Step 4 in the guide is still incorrect. It does not reflect the new way docker is found unless your link is linking me to an old version.

I would like to add that the previous guide was very easy to follow for someone with my experience level--none.

Docker has changed just yesterday.... Look in the Guides section on "How to use the new docker plugin".
I found your newly written guide and reviewed it. Thank you and everyone for the efforts! As I was following the previous guide in order to have omv6 on a flash drive, docker on an SSD, and my data on a 6TB HDD. You introduced the name containers. You seem to say that should go on the HDD. Is that the same as the DATA in the previous guide? It would be helpful to have some consistency for those of us with only a limited knowledge and trying to follow something. Could someone possibly look at the previous guide and get us to the endpoint of loading a container with jellyfin, using the naming convention used in the previous guide. Thank you 🙏!

I'm trying to follow the guide in the wiki to install docker correctly with the new system but this step does not seem to work as described:
4. Install Docker and openmediavault-compose plugin
- In the OMV GUI, go to the System > omv-extras > Docker
- In the Docker storage field replace the value with the path of the docker folder created earlier, and press the Save button.
omv extra does not have a drop down menu

This is my first post. I am a new user of Open Media Vault. I am trying to install it over the last weekend. I have been using you tube guides for assistance. None work now with the changes I could not get it working correctly so I started a new install yesterday. I got to the point where I am trying to download OMV-extras. I am getting the following message. What am I doing wrong?
sudo su -
wget -O - https://github.com/OpenMediaVa…ckages/raw/master/install | bash
root@omv6:~# sudo wget -O - https://github.com/OpenMediaVa…ckages/raw/master/install | sudo bash
