I have read that they have a mobile and desktop sync app if you need/want that functionality.

    Thanks a lot jata1!!

If anyone could share some experience with the windows sync app I would be very interested and grateful. Currently this is the only reason that still keeps me with NC.

Secondly: Less important but I'm curious: Is the android app any good? I had very annoying troubles with the NC app for many years and eventually replaced it by foldersync.

    Not for me:

I'm on 2.2.1 now too but still get this log fludding as soon as I "up" Glances.

    Code
    containerd[3293050]: time="2025-12-20T10:48:31.975424150+01:00" level=error msg="unable to parse \"max 0\" as a uint from Cgroup file \"/sys/fs/cgroup/system.slice/docker-d301e1b97a48cfdba75fe0bcb9022a0204592ac4dc26683b4faf819bad6e954f.scope/hugetlb.1GB.events\""

Did you have to reboot the machine? Thought it is not necessary since containerd restarted after update anyways.

Well, it is a fairly new N100, 8GB RAM (~70% used), with some containers pushing CPU load to ~2-3% avg long term.

The "heaviest" container being immich, which only uses CPU when ever anyone from family comes home with some new fotos which upload automatically. But even then, the system always feels very snappy.

    Dear OMV community

Hope it is ok to bring back this old thread.

Since a few days I'm getting this message every time I log in to the webui :

    Code
A running background task was detected.
Go to the notification sidebar to attach to it.
    a few seconds ago

When I click it there is no longer anything to attach to. Apparently there is something happening just before or during the log in process and finishes as soon as the ui is completely showing. Sometimes the notification bell remains even after page reload (ctrl+shift+r).

I have played around with some Docker containers the last few days (weekend), but all services and the system itself look quiet and cool.

    My question is:

How do I find out what is causing this?

I can't find anything in top and Docker stats. And I'm pretty lost with logs.

Are there any resources to teach me how to strategically investigate?

    PS: I'm on 7.7.24-1

This thread perfectly proofs how OMV is too complicated in some details for the average user where the competition has super simple interfaces.

I'm most grateful for what the OMV team has accomplished and love OMV! But even I had to Google this:

You need to use the most left button which is "mount an existing filesystem"

The Compose plugin's Images tab does have an "In Use" column. i don't know how that is different?

Great! Thanks for pointing me to this.

Now I remember why I don't use this: Some images used in Portainer stacks do not have an ‘in use’ tick mark.

Example: Immich is running here as a Portainer stack abd only two of the four images have the tick mark.

Ok, the solution is obvious: I will migrate this stack from Portainer to Compose plug-in and will have one container less running 😎.

It runs docker image prune -f which can almost never be harmful -

    Thanks a lot!

On first glance it looks very nice and just works!

Thanks again! This is a great tool!

The only other function that I like in Portainer is the "unused" flag shown on the Images overview.

I know the compose plugin has the Purge feature but up to now I was afraid to use it (but perhaps I should just be less lazy and check out the docker documentation about it...)

I bought that 4bay NAS 2 weeks ago. Mine is the N100 variant and branded Rouafwit (from Amazon Germany). I'm running a few docker containers (like Nextcloud, AdGuard home, Stirling pdf, Immich even with hardware acceleration) and a few shares and I'm very happy with it.

It even came with Windows pre-installed but the OMV installer took care to remove it 😂.

I think the Synology is a great product but you mainly pay for the software. So it depends on how much value this gives to you. If you only need a simple but performant SMB server maybe the other option is better. OMV also has FileBrowser but - as you know - doesn't offer the desktop like experience (which I personally don't miss on a server at all).
