I attempted to upgrade my Odroid HC2 from OMV7 to OMV8 via SSH (as root, "omv-release-upgrade")

and got error message "The system architecture armv71 is not supported". The Odroid is running Armbian 6.6.113

Does this mean OMV7 will be the last major release version that will work on this hardware? :?:

I did some experimenting. Created a new OMV7 install on SD card and basically repeated your steps. It's working now!

I am recreating shares & users and leaving ACLs untouched.

Thanks for your assistance. Hopefully I won't have to add anything to this thread...

I am going to follow this as a test. I have created an "MP3" shared folder

Please clarify the step bolded in the quote. I am not linux fluent and don't know a) how you copied the .mp3 files, verified the '644 permissions', or assigned ownership (in the ACL selection, what users group). Sorry, for what may seem like a dumb question but I want to ensure I know precisely what you did. Thanks

    Apology for the delay.

I tried an "experiment". I created a new shared folder called 'Media2'. Then changed the miniDLNA service to only point to Media2 (removed the previous 'Media' share from the list). Media2 ACL gave users 'minidlna" and 'nobody' read/write, checked 'recursive' and saved.

Then I copied 3 directories:"Audio", "Video", and "Pictures" to Media2, each with only a few related files. Then had miniDLNA re-scan. Nothing still shows up. Nothing wrong with the few files I experimented with.

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong (seems like I've done everything). I will look into installing jellyfin or plex next....

BTW I did reset the permissions via the plugin.

    Thanks for the reply.

I just looked and nothing in the Diagnostics/System Logs/minidlna (no log liste

    )

The same drive/files worked with the OMV5+DLNA.

DLNA is not critical for me, but it's nice way to watch on my Roku TV or listen to audio on my network connected AVR.

I may put an old HDD on it, use the SD card I created and installed OMV7 with only miniDLNA configured, and put only a few basic mp3 files on it and see if those are viewable on other devices. Worth a shot, I guess.

I will look to see if there are any roku apps that can access media via SMB. Any other ideas?

Does anyone have miniDLNA working on OMV7 on Odroid?

    Hello all,

After spending many hours trying to resolve this problem, I have to ask for help.

PROBLEM: Fresh install of OMV7 on an Odroid HC2 using an existing data drive that was used on OMV5 install (SD got corrupted). I've set up shares, directories, users, etc.. All of the shares & users work properly with SMB. Mini-DLNA plugin is installed and enabled. It has access to a folder called "Media" which contains three directories: Audio, Video, and Pictures. There are approx 9,500 audio files in mp3 format, 94 video files (22 GB) in various formats, and a small number of jpg files - in the respective directories. Devices on my networks see the DLNA server but show 0 files or directories. When I hit re-scan in Services, it briefly acts like it's scanning (1 second), but nothing changes. I do have the user and group "minidlna" given Read/Write privilege in the ACL for the "Media" share.

By all accounts this should really be a simple setup for MiniDLNA, and as I recall it was on my original OMV5 installation, but here I am. Just for giggles, I even did a fresh install on a different microSD card and did a setup in OMV7 with only the Media directory & share (no other services or users) and it doesn't work either.

I am stumped. Any suggestions or other info I can add?

I did see This thread from July 29 which seemed possibly related(?)
