Whoa! I put it back to my Windows 7 and I am shocked to see that it has been chopped up. Any idea if OMV did that?

Or did TP-Share feature of the TP-Link Router messed up my filesystem? I was connecting to TP-Share via USB 3.0 to use their NAS feature but it was "crap" so I decided to use OMV.

(Note I was using OMV 2 for years with other HDDs) After short stint with crappy TP-Share I decided to go back to OMV and this one is OMV 6).

Any suggestions on how to restore original partition and recover data?

I've read and understand that NTFS is not encouraged for OMV. However, I will need to move this 12TB HDD around eventually. I wouldn't want to copy and format if I change Operating systems in the future.

I'll like to try and mount my 12TB ironwolf HDD. It was created in windows 7 (yes 7) via external HDD via USB 3.0 using Disk management to create NTFS partition and volume - there's single partition.

OMV sees it fine, however wouldn't let me mount it as the HDD does not show up as an option to mount. But it's visible under DISKS.

However doesnt show up as available to be mounted:

I am able to create a new filesystem with the 12TB HDD but I know that means my NTFS will be wiped out.

Is any of the outputs below helpful? I would like to mount this NTFS HDD on OMV 6 (march 27, 2022) please and thank you.

Apparently I have to remove all references to the file system.

services and shares. How can I do them safely and restore them afterwards? I do not want to lose anything.
    Thanks.

Is there a reason why I cannot unmount my raid drive?

I have 2x4TB drives (sdb and sdc) in raid, its called md0 with a few shares.

I am trying to use extundelete which requires me to umount my drive. But the "mount and unmount" option are greyed out in the file system page.

BTW Photorec doesnt work because it shows source drive as sdb or sdc, but it has to be md0. How do I get it to detect md0?

I read that NFS is faster so thats why I wanted NFS. My whole household is Windows based. Except for Android TV, OMV, and android phones. Are you saying that I should focus on SMB/CIFS?

yes, you need lo. You should have
    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback
at the top of your interfaces file. Are you configuring this file manually?

Yes I am doing it manually via SSH. I messed up with interfaces so I re-typed them all manually. I missed the part (iface lo inet loopback) now my loopback is running.

IT"S SOLVED!! MY NFS IS WORKING! NO ERRORS. THANK YOU!

Now, I have to figure how to set up a NFS Client on Windows 7 home/pro... Anybody wanna recommend a good client?

    Thanks.

NFS Share I'm attempting to share.

By the way I noticed that my Loopback interface is not running. IS it required?
    I have in /etc/network/interfaces
    auto lo
however when doing ifup lo - I get unknown interface error.

EDITED: Updated info, apparently the error is related to setting up the NFS Share.

New to OMV but not new to Linux.

    1. Set up OMV.
    2. Static IP. Then plugged in my 2 4TB NAS drives. Set it up as Mirror Raid took overnight to complete.
    3. Set up file system - EXT4 (took 2 minutes to create)
    4. Mount FS.
    5. Create Users.
    6. Create shares.
    7. Enable NFS.
*Up to this point - save/apply changes went through ok*
    8. NFS/ Create share - I selected my "video" share folder, client: 192.168.1.0/24, and gave it read/write permissions.
****When applying changes, I get these errors******
