need a rsync job that cleans up destination before copy

  • Hi all..

    im using Rsync to copy backup files made on NAS1 to NAS2 for redundency.

    My problem is my backup progra makes sure to cleanup the backup on NAS1 so its only the files for the retention period that is left on NAS1. My RSYNC job doesn't do the same. Which means old jobs are stored on NAS2.

    Is there a parameter to set so Rsync makes sure share on NAS2 is Identical to whats on the share on NAS1?

    Thanks!

  • They are both OMW

    I get confused when you say Sync job/module? It sounds like i need to install a plugin which i haven't

    I just go to services->Rsync

    Nas1 is the target NAS for the backup.

    Nas2 is where the backup data needs to be pushed to after the backup software has completed its backup on NAS1

    NAS2 is configured as a server port 873

    NAS1 has a job pushing (using rsync) the content of its backup folder to NAS 2

    So the Rsync job on NAS 1 is set like this:

    Enabled = Check
    Type = Remote
    Mode = Push
    Sourch shared folder = the backup folder is chosen
    Destination server = rsync://administrator@192.168.0.107/backup
    Password = Password for administrator is given..

    I do see an Extra options text filed in the rsync job? perhaps i should just put in my "-delete" attribute there?
