Hi, I was hoping to get some suggestions about how best to implement this use case.
Current Situation
Apache running on a separate Debian/SPARC server, reverse proxy via name-based subdomain virtualhosts to (http) Jira and Confluence installations running on OMV 3 on ports 8085 and 8095. Note that I set this up and it is working great, but it's not secure and having a separate box for a proxy is a waste of energy and maintenance time (plus SPARC support for Debian is degrading).
Goal
To eliminate the need for the SPARC proxy while securing Jira and Confluence with https.
Candidate Approach
Configure the OMV nginx instance, either direct or via the nginx plugin, to reverse proxy name-based subdomain virtualhosts to the local applications. Use letsencrypt plugin for https.
Questions
- Is this config possible with the nginx and letsencrypt plugins?
- Is there a better alternate approach?
- How would I go about this?
I'm not looking for a step by step guide, I'm more interested if anyone can see any dumb issues with the approach or clever alternatives before I spend the time on it.
Cheers
