Available space

Hello all

I am a total noob to both linux and openmediavault. I have just installed OMV to a USB drive on a redundant box, added a 3TiB HDD and created and mounted it as XFS.

Why does it only show 714.46GiB as available and 5.03MiB used please?

Very impressed with the ease of installation and interface but cannot figure the capacity discrepancy. What am i doing wrong?

OK. So did i mention that i am a complete noob.

For anyone else who find this an issue here is my resolution;

login as root and install parted - (command) sudo apt-get install parted

(I spent a while trying to do this without the install as i had read somewhere that this was included)

Then you need to partition, format and mount the new partition. I followed the instructions i found at cyberciti.biz/tips/fdisk unable to create partition greater than 2tb.html (hope posting external reference is OK if not please delete)

Logged into web interface and Voila :O)

One happy bunny with a bit more linux knowledge than before.

I am sure that there are many other ways to achieve this but this was how i resolved the issue.
