The servers power outlet is surge protected, but obviously in case of a lightning strike i would not bet on it any more..

Checked the MX500 today with my laptop., where it was/is perfectly readable.

I am no expert, but SMART values seems not that bad. I'll take a closer look at the mainboard...

Still not sure, how trustworty the MX500 is, though.

    Hello all,

i am pretty sure, my issues are not related to OMV, but I think chances are high to find some around here, who is familiar with a case like this.

First some system information: My server contains a ASRock J3710 board, a cheap SSD as system drive and a WD Red.

A few weeks ago, I upgrade from OMV 5 to 6, clean install from the official image, and added a new Crucial MX500 to the system.

Two days later, we had a a thunderstorm with at least one (short) blackout (power grid is normally pretty stable here in Germany).

After this is when I got the first system monitor mail, “Status failed (1) /srv/dik… is not a mountpoint” for both the MX500 and the WD Red.

I repaired the superblocks for both devices, and they were back online.

When I tried to reboot the server the next time, the cheap SSD threw a bunch of ATA errors and booting failed.

I bought a new cheap SSD and reinstalled OMV.

Since then, the WD Red lost its mountpoint every few days, sometimes being rediscovered and remounted automatically the next day. Replacement for it is already here.

Today, same for the MX500, but I was not able to get it back online

Sometimes the devices are visible with fdisk -l, sometimes not. If they are visible, repairing the suberblock brings them back online for a few hours or day. When I checked the cheap SSD on my laptop, it also threw superblock errors.

    So long story short:

Is it possible for lightning to destroy three drives in one strike?

What would be the best way, to check if the drives are really dead and not just some file system corruption? Especially for the MX500, as I would like to send it in to check for warranty. I don’t care for the data (got backups) but I really do not want it to become suddenly mountable again, like the WD Red as there is some sensible stuff on it.

    Best regards

    Alex

    ifconfig:

Domain names all ( network settings, smb and windows) on default settings "WORKGROUP".

    Windows error message is:
(Not able to access \\192.... Check the spelling of [the servers] name. Maybe there is a network error).

    Windows trouble shooting:
(Remote device or resource refused the connection)

Edit: After following geaves link...still no luck. It's like there is no server at all (same windows error message, when entering a random ip).

    Exact same problem here.

Upgrade from (a fine working) OMV 2.x to 3.0.79 via clean install.
After the installation there were also some troubles updating to 3.0.80 via the web gui, but somehow managed it via ssh (at least i hope so).

The OMV Server ist not visible in the windows network sektion, neither reachable over \\ip. Same for an android phone with total commander.
    Ping works.
    SSH works.
DNS are set (tried the ip of my router an 8.8.8.8).
ACL are set to the user and smb service.

Tried with an update .80 Version and with a fresh installed .079. At the last one, the only changes were creating an user and a smb share. Same results.
Also FTP seems not to work, so maybe a more general problem with permissions/shares/whatever?

    Hi Guys,

atm i am trying to get Emby working. The problems is: All files occur in the library, but neither mp3s nor movies are able to be played. When clicking on play, the playback-controls at the bottom are appearing, but the playback-time ist stuck at 0:00. Pictures are working fine. So i guess it is not a permission-issue (in Plex works well with the same files...but cause of the lac of access control and accessibility via VPN, i would like to stick to Emby)?
I tried it in different browsers (Chrome, Edge an Chrome on android) and in the android app. Same behavior.

    The installation process:
    - OMV is running in VMWare
    - Created a New user
    - creation of a new folder in Acces Control -> Folders (Zugriffskontrolle -> Freigegebene Ordner; sorry, I don't know how the options are called in English)
    - Gave the user access to the newly created folder via privileges (Privilegien)
    - Copied a few files/ directories via Samba in the folder

    - installed ffmpeg via apt-get
    - installed Emby via plugin-manager
    - rebooted the machine
    - started Emby

I have attached some logfiles from the Emby-page...if you need more, tell me!

I would appreciate your help :)

    Mahlzeit Zusammen,

    Hi Guys,

consider me as beginner with Linux. I struggle with installing the latest version of OwnCloud. When I try to install OC via the OMV plugin manager, it installs version 6 of OC.
    What I tried:

Upgrading manually vie the OC upgrade manual. Since i am on version 6 and the manual advises against skipping major releases in the upgrade process, this is a bit of a pain in the ass. Also, i would like to have OC managed in the packet manager for easy further upgrades...(apart from that the upgrade process failed and i was not able to access the web-config page anymore, idk the failure anymore).

Installing version 9 of OC by adding the package to the repository, like told here. Installation seemed to be successful, but the OC-plugin is not visible in the OMV web gui.
And because i don't know much about Linux, i did not know what to do.

So i googled a bit and found a few topics in this forum, but every link from google redirects me to the main page. There should be a guide from the user tekkb, but i was not able to access the thread...

So, thanks for your help :)

    Mahlzeit Zusammen,
