It appears the answer is to go to Services/SMB/CIFS/Shares/yourfolder/Edit and enable "Inherit Permissions" there. But be careful as it will effect all subfolders under the selected folder as well. This works perfectly for me.

Thanks subzero79. I'm not new to linux but if I have to go to the CL to set permissions, then I can just do this in Linux/SAMBA. I was thinking OMV offered a nice GUI for a change. We do not use home directories. This is a strictly a multi-user system.

Hi, When I select "Apply permissions to files and sub-folders" it sets permissions so that everyone can edit files. But it's not sticky. As soon as a new files is created, I have to login and do it again. Is this a feature or a bug? If it's a feature, I will have to find a workaround or abandon OMV. I like OMV so I hope you have a fix for this.
There is another thread with the same issue but he didn't seem to get a response...

dinge, did you get a solution to your permissions problem? I have the same problem. I have multiple users and the ACL button to "Apply permissions to files and subfolders" is not sticky. It resets to off so it seems to need a cron job running in the background resetting it every so often.
This seems like a bug to me....
