thanks for the feedback, I saw that the reset permissions plugin was installed, and tryed to reset it in shared folders. even rebooted with no results. I attached some screenshots.
I tried "clear all ACLs" off and on.

I followed this setup

But the files on the drives are not showing, the drives appear blank (but are listed to have data in the storage>file systems area.
attached is a screen shot of storage>file systems
any ideas on how to fix this without reformatting drives? I can put new files on, but old ones are not showing.
