How to restore a VM Backup from a other OMV System
i copy de backups in the backup folder , but when i want to restore , i see only the backups i make on this system
please advise
Alles anzeigenYou could've just to get an address: dhclient eth0
then install netplan:
apt-get install netplan.io
create the config /etc/netplan/10eth0.yaml
work also perfect
This is the fault of the deb 12 container. It doesn't have network-manager, netplan, ifupdown, or any other network management system installed. So, you will need to install one.
Thank you for a clear explanation
i installed Debian 11 then upgraded to 12, this work good
hi
when i create a LXC container with a debian 12 image i get no ip addr
but when i create a LXC container with a debian 11 image i get an ip addr
i create both times with the same settings
1g mem
1 cpu
bridge br0
what do i wrong
That is a much bigger change. I will consider it for the OMV 7.x version of the plugin. Otherwise, I recommend using virt-manager. You can even run virt-manager in a docker on the same system (example file available in the compose plugin) if you don't have a linux system with desktop environment.
thanks i will try that
Not sure what you mean. Did the command I gave you change the notes?
yes i did the command you give change the description , this works
but when i want to change (edit) the xml file this does not work
Does this work?
sudo virsh desc --domain VMNAME --config --new-desc 'test description'
If this doesn't work, there isn't much I can do because virsh desc and libvirt php doesn't work on pflash/nvram VMs.
changing Notes work
but edit xml don't work
Does 6.2.18 not fix the issue?
nope

Hi is there news here ?
Probably something windows related. Can you post the <os> element from the VM's XML? It should look something like this:
Code<os firmware='efi'> <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-q35-8.1'>hvm</type> <loader secure='yes'/> <boot dev='hd'/> <boot dev='cdrom'/> </os>
Not sure how I am going to test Windows VMs though...
here it is
<os>
<type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-q35-7.2'>hvm</type>
<loader readonly='yes' secure='yes' type='pflash'>/usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE_4M.ms.fd</loader>
<nvram>/var/lib/libvirt/qemu/nvram/win11_VARS.fd</nvram>
<boot dev='hd'/>
<boot dev='cdrom'/>
</os>
I wouldn't have mentioned if I didn't test it. I'm a little mystified why it isn't working on your system. What is the complete error? cut&paste from the bell in the top right of the web interface.

I looked into this again and libvirt can only take snapshots of a VM with secure boot enabled if it is powered off. So, I could make it automatically power off the VM, take the snapshot, and power it back on. This is a pretty big change and I'm still thinking about whether I want to add it. It definitely won't be added to the OMV 6.x version of the plugin. If you want snapshots, please power off the VM and it will work.
Nope this does not work
when i try to edit the XML of a VM with secure boot enabled i get the following error
500 - Internal Server Error
Unable to set VM XML - Requested operation is not valid: cannot undefine domain with nvram
Snapshot of what?
when i try to make a snapshot with secure boot enabled , this don't work , i get the following error
500 - Internal Server Error
Unable to create snapshot - Operation not supported: internal snapshots of a VM with pflash based firmware are not supported
I had it built two weeks ago and I guess I forgot to push it to the repo. It is in the repo now.
Thanks i update it and it works
This should be fixed in 6.2.18
When will this version come we are now on 6.2.17
Thanks
I will test it
